HOSPITALITY MINISTRY TEAM MEETING MINUTESTuesday, January 10, 2012Introductions & ReviewDevotions were read by Rick Boogher – 1 Corinthians 16 – the Love ChapterFollowed by prayer by Larry Gibble.Pastor Don stopped in for a second and said that John King and an architect were here at church onSunday afternoon to look over converting part of the narthex area into a hospitality center. Severalideas were suggested that ranged from very expensive to more moderate, no dollar amounts given.Nagy & Mervat Ronsour, from Egypt, are actively looking for a church home and the Yeagers will visitthem.Brainstorming around the room:Lou suggested the Pastor recognize the visitors each Sunday. Larry called Pastor Don on 1/11/12 andasked him to talk to Lou about her idea.There was a general feeling that the narthex looks and feels cold since the Christmas decorations havebeen removed. We need to warm it up both temperature wise and personal warmth. Should we have anarthex decorator like we have bulletin board decorators?About Greeters:Brad & Rebecca Heidlebaugh names were missing from the list of narthex greeters for the secondSunday of each month. Will make sure they are added. Should greeters and hosts wear name pins? Willthere be greeter training? Larry responded ‘yes’ and will work with Pastor Don. Should the narthexgreeters separate - one on each side of the narthex as opposed to standing next to each other? TheStatlers do a good job by standing this way. Should there be hand-outs like the newsletters since wehave no brochure at this time. Vesta stated that there are still mugs available. LWG will contact JoannKlinedinst. Everyone should be greeted the same – old timers, those attending here for years and thosenew visitors and new members.Changes needed:Phone greeting needs updated and changed.Our church sign – anything we can do?

We reviewed a summary sheet of hospitality information found on the internet. LWG will emailto the onliners and a paper copy to Lou.3. In a conversation with Pastor Don, he has a good resource book in his office entitled “UnlockingChurch Doors” by Paul Mundy, Pastor of the Frederick Church of the Brethren (the largest COBin the denomination).We will change Rick Boogher’s email address.Next Meeting – Tuesday, February 7 th at 6:00 in the lounge.Minutes submitted by Jane L.
