PRESS RELEASE ON NATIONAL SCIENCE DAY- 2013 CELEBRATIONAT RRCATAt Raja Ramanna Centre for Advanced Technology, Indore, National Science Dayis celebrated every year on the last Saturday of the month of February. This year it wascelebrated on 23 February, 2013. 1500 students and teachers of 111 schools and collegesfrom Indore and some from far away places came to visit the scientific facilities inRRCAT. The staff members of RRCAT had prepared about 15 exhibits which were keptin 12 buildings to explain the scientific and technical activities of the centre and todemonstrate a few concepts in basic sciences. The programme started at 9.00 Hrs with anaddress by Dr. P.D. Gupta, Director, RRCAT. Dr. Gupta informed that the NationalScience Day is celebrated to commemorate the path-breaking discovery of Raman Effectwhich led to the winning of Nobel Prize by Prof. C.V. Raman. Dr. Gupta brought outseveral inspirational aspects of Prof. Raman’s personality and life-style besides hisscientific contributions. Dr. Gupta also described the growth of Indian Science in the lastfew decades and the contribution of the Department of Atomic Energy in theenhancement of Science and Technology capabilities of our country. He also gave anoverview of Laser and Accelerator activities at RRCAT and explained severalapplications. His simple and easy to understand explanations had a stimulating effect onthe students and teachers. He also indicated on the educational institutions and prospectsfor students who may like to make a career in scientific research.After his address all the students were taken to different laboratories in organizedgroups under the guidance of volunteers from RRCAT. The students and teachers weregreatly enthused by the interesting exhibits. Snacks and lunch were served to the studentsand accompanying faculties from various schools and colleges. In the afternoon, families/relatives of RRCAT officials visited the laboratories and witnessed exhibits.An overall enthusiastic approach was exhibited by the students towards science bythe inspiration they received from the Science Day Celebration. They admired thescientific activities being pursued by DAE in general, and RRCAT in particular.

ेस रीिलज - आरआरके ट म िवान दवस समारोह- 2013राजा राम ना गत ौोिगक के , इ दौर म येक वष फरवरी माह के अंितम शिनवारको रा ीय िवान दवस मनाया जाता है। इसिलए इस वष यह 23 फरवरी 2013 को मनाया गया।इ दौर तथा आसपास के 111 िवालय के 1500 िवाथ एवं िशक आरआरके ट क वैािनकसुिवधाएं देखने आए। मूलभूत िवान क कु छ अवधारणा का दशन करने और के क वैािनकऔर तकनीक ग ितिविधय को समझाने के िलए आरआरके ट के टाफ सद य ने लगभग 15दशिनयां तैयार क जो 12 भवन म लगाई गई। डा. पी. डी. गु ता, िनदेशक, आरआरके ट के संबोधनके साथ कायम 9.00 बजे ारंभ आ। डा. गु ता ने बताया क रा ीय िवान दवस रमन भावक खोज करने पर मनाया जाता है िजसके िलए ोफे सर सी.वी.रमन ने नोबल पुर कार ा त कया।डा. गु ता ने ोफे सर रमन के वैािनक योगदान के अलावा उनके यि व और उनक जीवन-शैली केकई ेरणादायी पहलु को बताया। डा. गु ता ने िपछले कु छ दशक म भारतीय िवान क गित औरहमारे देश क िवान और ौोिगक मता को बढ़ाने म परमाणु ऊजा िवभाग के योगदान के बारेम भी बताया। उ हने आरआरके ट म लेसर और वरक गितिविधय पर भी काश डाला और कईअनुयोग के बारे म भी बताया। उनके सहज और सरल या यान से सभी िवाथय एवं िशक परअ छा भाव पड़ा। उ हने शैिणक सं थान और िवाथय को वैािनक अनुसंधान म कै रयरबनाने पर भी जोर दया।उनके संबोधन के प चात सभी िवाथय को संगठत समूह म आरआरके ट के वॉलंटयर केमागदशन म िविभ न योगशाला म ले जाया गया। िवाथ एवं िशक इन रोचक दशन सेबत ही उ सािहत थे। िविभ न कू ल और कालेज से आए सभी िवाथय एवं उनके िशक कोना ते एवं दोपहर का भोजन दया गया। दोपहर म, आरआरके ट के कमचारय के परवार नेयोगशालाएं एवं दशिनय को देखा।िवान दवस समारोह म िवाथय म िवान से ेरत होकर एक सम उ साही दृिकोणदेखने को िमला। उ हने परमाणु ऊजा िवभाग क सामा य तौर पर और िवशेष प से आरआरके ट मचल रह वैािनक गितिविधय क शंसा क।
