13Scholastic Probation<strong>and</strong> DismissalStudents shall be placed on academic probation,if after attempting a minimum of 12units, any of the following occur:a. Low Grade Point Average. The studenthas a GPA less than a “C” (2.0).b. Transfer Student. The student hastransferred with a GPA less than “C” (2.0).c. Progress Probation. When the percentageof all units in which grades of “W” (withdrawal),“INC” (incomplete), <strong>and</strong> “NCR”(no credit) reaches or exceeds 50%.A student on academic probation shallbe DISMISSED from the college if:a. The cumulative GPA is less than 2.0 inall units attempted in two consecutivesemesters.b. If the cumulative percentage of “W”, “INC”,<strong>and</strong> “NCR” grades are 50% or greater intwo consecutive semesters. Dismissalfrom one college in the <strong>Los</strong> <strong>Angeles</strong>Community <strong>College</strong> District shall disqualifya student from admission <strong>to</strong> any of theother eight colleges within the District.Academic RenewalStudents who have a 2.5 grade point averagein their last 15 units or 2.0 in their last 30units completed at any accredited collegeor university may petition <strong>to</strong> have up <strong>to</strong> 18units of “D” or “F” grades removed from cumulativegrade point average considerationprovided such course work was completedtwo years prior <strong>to</strong> effective date of petition.The grade point average will be basedon the most recently earned grades for thefirst 15 units of repeated work.
