Concentrated Inspection Campaign (CIC)If PSCO is satisfied with questions no. 1-4, then it is anticipatedthat the ship is in compliance and the remainingquestions (5-8) will not be applicable. Please note that if theanswer is NO to any of the questions no. 1- 3 may result indetention. Further, it is assumed that depending on thecombination of the results of the remaining questions, when applicable, there will be situations that may lead todetention. In summary, master has to ensure compliance by:Loading the ship as per approved conditions in SIB orIf loading conditions are deviating from thosestated in the approved stability booklet, havingwritten approval from flag or class orAssessing loaded condition against the allowablelimit curves (covering damage stability) included inthe SIB orUsing an approved computer program able toperform damage stability calculations. We would like to draw your attention that as the CIC will beconducted during a routine PSC inspection, the PSCO willcheck also other areas to his/hers discretion, includingcompliance with ISM code. As loading operations are consideredkey shipboard operations, the company shouldensure that instructions and procedures in relation to stabilityare included in the Safety Management System (SMS).Further, if PSCO concludes that the ship is not loaded inaccordance with damage stability requirements, this may berecorded as failure of the SMS and an internal/externalaudit may be required. If you required further assistance for approval of loadingconditions, please contact us as soon as possible in orderthat we may help you in good time prior to the commencementof the CIC.e-mail: stability@dnv.comweb: www.dnv.comFor further information please contact your local or main DNV office
