Those who work out at the JCCGW may<br />

have noticed a new group exercise<br />

addition: BODYPUMP classes. “We<br />

are very excited to introduce BODYPUMP <br />

to the JCC,” says Cassidy Jagger, health<br />

& fitness director. “This takes our fitness<br />

program to a whole new level!”<br />

Our Summer Fitness Countdown Launch<br />

featuring BODYPUMP classes was<br />

held last month. Demo classes were jam<br />

packed, and there was a wait list. “People<br />

are excited!” reported group exercise<br />

coordinator Margot Jacoby.<br />

Les Mills BODYPUMP is the original<br />

barbell class for men and women that<br />

strengthens the entire body. The 60-minute<br />

workout, set to awesome music, challenges<br />

all the major muscle groups by using weight<br />

room exercises like squats, presses, lift and<br />

curls. Participants can add or take off the<br />

weights to suit their own individual fitness<br />

levels.<br />

Long time JCCGW instructor Laurie Shaw<br />

immediately noticed the difference.<br />

Since she began teaching BODYPUMP ,<br />

Laurie “feels stronger and walks taller.”<br />

BODYPUMP instructor Gail Sander tells<br />

us, ”I love to see the class energized by the<br />

music and the hard workout. It is great to<br />

see the students pushing themselves in each<br />

class.” Instructor Leah Gibian adds, “It’s a<br />

great whole body workout. The format is<br />

awesome because you stay with the same<br />

release long enough to really master the<br />

moves and see results.”<br />

JCCGW member Amanda Fein sums it up<br />

when she says, “BODYPUMP is a great<br />

addition to my work out. It gives me the<br />

instruction and time for weight lifting that I<br />

was looking for. The instructors are amazing<br />

and very patient with the classes while<br />

people learn the moves and routines.”<br />

BODYPUMP classes are free for members.<br />
