39Mer et Marine2014-2015 « INTERNATIONAL SHOWS Interceptors «DV15The DV15 from CMN hasbecome an industry standard,with more than45 boats sold to date.Mozambique took deliveryof six of the vessels in2014, joining the UnitedArab Emirates, Qatarand Yemen in the list ofcustomers for this successful maritimesecurity vessel. With a deep-V hullmade of composite materials, theship can be deployed as part of awhole range of air/sea surveillanceand protection operations. The DV15is designed primarily for interceptionmissions, area protection and criticalport and offshore infrastructuresecurity. It is also used for combatingtrafficking, piracy and terrorism andfor police, sovereignty and escortmissions. Thanks to its modulardesign, features can be tailored to thecustomer’s precise needs. Optionsinclude a 12.7mm remotely operatedgun, electro-optical sensors and agunshot detection system. Building onthe success of the DV15, CMN unveiledits new DV15 RWS 30 interceptor forthe first time in 2012. This featuresa 30mm remotely operated guninstead of the 12.7mm manual guncarried by earlier versions. The Lemurgyrostabilised turret from BAE SystemsBofors is equipped with a sensorpackage including day/night camerasand a laser rangefinder, target trackingmodules and ballistic protection. Theturret carries a belt-fed ATK M230LFgun with a firing rate of 200 rounds/minute and a 300-round belt. Meetingthe structural, outfitting, stability andsafety requirements associated witha gun turret mounted on the roof ofa boat less than 16m in length was atour de force, but the effort has paidoff.
