Generation <strong>of</strong> special shapes:<br />

In some specific applications e.g. in the<br />

antifriction roller bearing industry,<br />

superfinishing is used to create special<br />

shapes. Examples <strong>of</strong> these are cylindrical<br />

convex <strong>and</strong> fully convex cylinder<br />

<strong>and</strong> conical rollers.<br />

Microscopic surface structure:<br />

The surface structure is equivalent to<br />

that <strong>of</strong> a honed surface. The machining<br />

pattern assists in the creation <strong>of</strong> a lubricating<br />

surface.<br />
