WelcomeAbout Kingsland Bay <strong>State</strong> ParkKingsland Bay <strong>State</strong> Park sits on the picturesqueshores of Lake Champlain and is a favorite spot forevents and weddings, due to the stunning backdrop.The park offers a variety of activites includingswimming, boating and walking. <strong>Facilities</strong> includean historic banquet hall perfect for large groups, an18th century stone house with wrap-around porchand a rustic theatre building.Much of the 264-acre state park on the shores ofLake Champlain is a designated <strong>State</strong> Natural Area.The historic Hawley House, circa 1790, was builtwith stones from the ruins of Fort Ticonderoga.The house is listed on the National Register ofHistoric Places. The house served as an inn fortravelers; ferry service once ran from KingslandBay across the lake to New York. The second floorserved as a ballroom for dances and festivities.During the War of 1812, the Hawley House housedthe militia. At the turn of the 20th century it becamea monastic retreat and the bell tower was addedto the structure. HawleyHouseThe Federal vernacular style HawleyHouse provides intimate space for smallgroups, meetings and dressing rooms forthe wedding party. There is one furnishedroom with a conference table that seats upto 12 people. The Hawley House is oftenused as a dressing room for the bride andher attendants. TheatreThe Theatre is a warm, rustic structurewith a stage at the northern end andstone fireplace at the southern end. Theexterior is in the Colonial Revival style;the interior is Adirondack-rustic. Thisbuilding can seat up to 50 people.The Theatre offers space for cocktailhour, dancing, children’s activities orchanging space for the bridal party. GeneralInformationPark season: Kingsland Bay <strong>State</strong> Park is openMemorial Day weekend through ColumbusDay weekend.Outdoor vows: An outdoor wedding atKingsland Bay provides a beautiful, naturalsetting. Outdoor cermonies are often set up onthe lawn near the water overlooking KingslandBay. Please remember that the park remainsopen to the public. The Theater makes anexcellent inclement-weather alternative.Chairs: 150 “garden style” chairs are includedwith the Banquet Hall rental.Caterers: If you are looking for a caterer, wesuggest the web site vermontweddings.com.Many local caterers have hosted events at thepark. Please give your caterer the informationsheet included in this packet. Your caterer willneed to meet or speak with the Park Ranger 8weeks in advance of the event.Alcohol: Guests may provide their ownalcoholic beverages for personal consumptionin containers 1 gallon or smaller. A liquorlicensedcaterer is necessary to serve alcohol toguests. No glass containers are allowed nearthe swimming area.Music: Check vermontweddings.com for a listof music providers. Please give your musicproviders the information sheet included inthis packet. Musicians or DJs must speak tothe Park Ranger at least 8 weeks in advance ofthe event.All amplified music must be inside and mustcease 1 hour before sunset. This is to ensureall visitors enjoy the park and to maintain theserenity of our surrounding community. Thelevel of tolerable noise is at the discretion ofthe park staff. You may have a microphone setup for your outdoor wedding vows.Rubbish: All trash must be picked up andproperly sorted. You may leave sorted trashand recycling at the park recycling center.Please separate glass, aluminum, plastic,paper and cardboard into separate bags andplace them adjacent to the trash container.Electrical supply: There are 120-volt outlets on20-amp circuits spaced every 5 to 8 feet in thebanquet hall.Water supply: There are two convenientwater spigots close to the banquet hall.One is located between the theatre buildingand banquet hall and the second is locatedbehind the bath house. Local caterers arefamiliar with park facilities.Tent rental: Tents of all sizes can beaccommodated. They must be set up andtaken down on the day of the event. Tents maynot block access to the beach and day use area.The Park Ranger must pre-approve all tentlocations to ensure that underground utilitysystems are protected. Very large tents (over1,000 s.f.) require a permit from the <strong>Vermont</strong>Fire Safety Division. Visitors arriving with a pet will not bepermitted to enter the park. Please be certainall group members know this in advance. Wehave included this information on the enclosedmap.Signs: You may post a directional sign on Route7 and Little Chicago Road for your guests.Payment and reservation: The date of yourevent will be reserved for you when you firstcontact us. You will have two weeks from thatdate to complete a Group Use Agreement formand submit your payment to the ReservationsCenter office. If payment and paperwork arenot received within 14 days of making yourreservation, the reservation will be canceled.Meeting with park staff: Park staff is availableto meet with you and answer questions fromearly May through Columbus Day.
