network of contacts. The Delaware County Chamber of
Commerce is driven to provide you with the opportunities to

Delaware County, Inc. (CAADC)
recently received a $1,000 donation from
Giant Food Stores to support its Healthy
Living and Physical Fitness Project. This
project provides nutrition counseling and
an anti-obesity component for children and
families in the Agency’s homeless
programs. CAADC operates three homeless
shelters as well as an extensive transitional
housing program. This donation from Giant
Food Stores will help to provide these
families with support for establishing and
maintaining a healthier lifestyle.

Franklin Mint Federal Credit

Main Line Telecommunications of
Aston has been honored with the exclusive
2011 Award of Excellence for the fourth
consecutive year. The award is presented
annually by the Canadian Call Management
Association (CAM-X), the industry’s Trade
Association for providers of call center
services including telephone answering and
message delivery. Main Line Telecommunications
was presented with the award
recently at the CAM-X 47th Annual
Convention and Trade Show held at the
Hyatt Regency in Montreal, QC.
Dino Don’s Dinosaurium will be
opening at the Granite Run Mall on
November 5th. Enjoy life-size skeletons,
fossils, videos and interactive displays, along
with a dinosaur dig pit for youngsters. The
mall is partnering with “Dino Don” Lessem
of Middletown to create the museum in
7,900 square feet of vacant space adjacent to
center court, formerly occupied by New York
& Co. Dino Don was technical adviser for
“Jurassic Park” and Disney dinosaur films.
When “Jurassic Park” filming ended, he was
given all dinosaur models and props from
the movie set. Mall Marketing Director
Aubrey Proud said the museum — believed
to be the first dinosaur experience within any
regional mall in the nation.
The Upper Darby Community
Outreach Corporation ("UDCOC")
is a non-profit organization committed to
serving the residents of Eastern Delaware
County and West Philadelphia. They strive to
provide programs and services that enhance
education, increase healthcare access, improve
life skills, and promote an understanding
that embraces diversity and unifies
neighborhoods. For nearly 18 years,
UDCOC has been serving over 1,200 residents
each year in the Upper Darby community.

One of the main goals of the Delaware County Chamber of
Commerce is encouraging policies that lead to economic growth,
and thus supports the US Chamber of Commerce’s recently
released Six-Point Plan for Job Creation.
1. Expand Trade and Global Commerce – Congress and the
Administration have the tools in your hands to quickly open
new markets for American businesses and create new jobs for
American workers.
2. Produce more American Energy – Decision makers should
let American energy workers and businesses responsibly
develop all sources of domestic energy immediately. This will
not only create jobs but will generate new government
revenues, protect our energy security, and release us from the
grip of some unfriendly governments.
3. Speed up Infrastructure Projects – Government at all
levels is standing in the way of badly needed improvements in
the nation’s infrastructure. Hundreds of clean and traditional
energy projects have been held up by Not In My Backyard
(NIMBY) delays. We can strengthen our economy, clean the
air, and save lives while putting hundreds of thousands of
Americans to work.
4. Welcome Tourists and Business Visitors to the United
States – Travel and tourism is a small business-centered
sector that already accounts for $700 billion in revenues and
7.4 million American jobs. Spending y foreign tourists counts
as U.S. exports and helps our balance of trade. When business
visitors come here for conferences, training, and trade shows
and to buy our products, they strengthen America’s role as the
center of innovation and global commerce. We have an
opportunity to create new jobs, spur consumer spending, and
generate more revenues for government at all levels.

Marcellus Shale Forum
5. Speed up Permits and Provide Regulatory Certainty
and Relief – Small and large businesses alike have cited
regulatory burdens, the excessive litigation that regulations
spawn, and fears about what government regulators will do to
them next as among the most significant obstacles to new
hiring. Immediate regulatory relief is required in order to
begin moving $1 trillion–$2 trillion in accumulated private
capital off of the sidelines and into business expansion.
6. Pass Tax Incentives that Create Jobs While Increasing
Revenues – Comprehensive pro-growth tax reform must be
a key deliverable of the Joint Select Committee on Deficit
Reduction. Lawmakers and the administration can begin
delivering now by swiftly enacting tax measures that stimulate
business expansion and jobs without adding to the deficit.
The most immediate priority facing our nation is to create jobs
for the 25 million Americans who are unemployed,
underemployed, or have simply given up looking for work. Thus,
Congress and the Administration’s timely action on these and
other ideas would significantly ease uncertainty, get existing capital
off the sidelines, spur business and consumer activity, and create
American jobs.
A positive business climate in Delaware County and our
Commonwealth benefits our residents, municipalities, and various
other institutions. Support of pro-business policies go a long way
towards making Delaware County and Pennsylvania a better place
to live, work, and raise a family.
Join other Delaware County Chamber of Commerce members on December 6th at
the Drexelbrook for an education seminar regarding Marcellus Shale. This forum will
feature experts from a variety of organizations; gas companies, state agencies and
environmental organizations among others; that are directly involved in the process
of exploring the Marcellus Shale. More details on this event will be forthcoming.

Do you know about the changes in the tax collection process in Pennsylvania?
Act 32 affects all PA resident employees and every PA employer with employees. It also affects self-employed
individuals filing a PA earned income tax return with a local tax jurisdiction. For some, the Act is effective January 1,
2011; for others, it is effective January 1, 2012. This law requires that employers withhold EIT at the higher rate of
either the non-resident rate in the employer’s jurisdiction or the resident rate in the employee’s residence – a provision
that was set to begin Jan. 1, 2012.
