<strong>2013</strong> Lake-Sumter MPO <strong>Horizon</strong> <strong>Award</strong>sLake~Sumter MPO <strong>Horizon</strong> <strong>Award</strong>s encourage <strong>and</strong> recognize excellence in planning,partnership <strong>and</strong> public service. The awards are to recognize efforts during 2012 <strong>and</strong> theawards coincide with the annual installation <strong>of</strong> MPO <strong>of</strong>ficers, January 23, <strong>2013</strong>.Leadership: MPO 2 nd Vice Chair Leslie Campione.Commissioner Campione served this last year in leadership positions such as chairing theMPO’s Transportation Disadvantaged Coordinating Board for Lake County <strong>and</strong> chairing theLake County Commission.Regional Partner: The Florida Department <strong>of</strong> Transportation, Secretary AnanthPrasad & FDOT D5 Secretary Noranne Downs for Advancing Wekiva Parkway <strong>and</strong> I-75Widening<strong>2013</strong> Nominees also included: Congressman John Mica for Supporting the FloridaCentral Railroad Initiative <strong>and</strong> the Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise for Planning Coordination<strong>of</strong> Future Interchanges in Minneola <strong>and</strong> in Wildwood/The Villages.Volunteer <strong>of</strong> the Year: Rich Dunkel for Advancement <strong>of</strong> the “Close the Gaps” RegionalTrails Initiative.<strong>2013</strong> Nominees also included:Jamie Hanja, Member <strong>of</strong> the Citizens’ Advisory Committee for Engagement in the MPOProcess <strong>and</strong> Colleen Kollmann, Vice Chair <strong>of</strong> the Lake County TransportationDisadvantaged Coordinating Board, for Leadership on the Board.Exemplary Planning Project: Florida Central Railroad <strong>and</strong> Local Partners forReplacement <strong>of</strong> Dora Canal Rail Bridge.<strong>2013</strong> Nominees also included:Lake County Parks & Trails Division for Managing Design <strong>of</strong> Lake Apopka North ShoreOverlook <strong>and</strong> Trailhead. City <strong>of</strong> Leesburg Public Works Department for ConstructionManagement <strong>of</strong> the Leesburg-Wildwood Trail.
