<strong>JOB</strong> <strong>PROFILE</strong>Machine Shop TeamRole:Reporting to: General ManagerLeaderPrimary WorkCompanyAlloaWeir Power and IndustrialLocation:Name:Ref No : 43-13 Date Posted: 28 h June 2013Business Need / Purpose of role:To provide the vital communication link between management and shop floor whilstensuring smooth, efficient running and continuous improvement of machine shop whilefocusing activities to improve general levels of quality.Key Responsibilities and Specific Accountabilities:(results this role is expected to accomplish)• To ensure customer satisfaction by achieving on time delivery targets andminimising customer complaints and rework activities.• Ensure all work is completed within budgeted allowable hours.• Provide first point of contact for the provision of technical advice on all issuesand queries arising from the workshop.• Accountable for the quality of all machine shop work• Liaise and follow up with relevant customers to secure business• Ensure a high level of housekeeping and that the area of responsibility is ‘visitorready’ at all times, using 5 S techniques• Liaise with material ‘in feed’ to ensure smooth lean flow of material to achieveoutput.• Liaise with, and encourage, team members to focus on achievement of all daily /weekly objectives. Build team spirit and positive attitudes.• Assess and monitor skill levels of team members and facilitate training anddevelopment for continuous improvement of skills• Ensure all health and safety procedures and working practices are adhered to,and correctly applied, within the relevant area of responsibility. Be proactive inreporting and resolving any concerns, participate in investigations and reportingof accidents and incidents.• Participate in the development and implementation of all improvement activitieswhich relate to area of responsibility, as required by the Company.• Communicate with team on a daily basis regarding objectives and priorities,assist and maintain information on area notice boards.
