At this meeting I wish tooutline some of the current and futuredirections for technology in our school andhow as a school we can work together toachieve goals that will improve outcomes andclassroom experience for our students.Similarly, I wish to outline a draft building planthat will incorporate immediate and long termgoals to improve the physical facility of theschool that will require a strong partnershipwith the community. Suggestions, commentsand offers of expertise will be welcome at thismeeting. While we are doing this, the Year 7students will be enjoying the disco downstairsin the hall!Let’s Deal With It – last night the anti bullyingDVD made in the school was premiered in anoccasion that rivalled any Hollywoodspectacular. This unique production was madewith the generous assistance of Annie andDavid McCubbin and the team at Coup. All ofthe invited guests dressed formally, celebratedthe achievements of the students and watchedthe film with admiration. Our Manly “Oscars”night saw the stars on screen and behind thescenes rewarded and recognized. Thescripting, acting and production work wasexcellent and students learnt from the processand have now produced an excellent resourcefor future school based activities. Thanks toJessie Grosser and Maddie Withington fortheir hosting of the night. Congratulations to allof the students, thanks to all of the staff whosupported this venture and a special thanks toMs O’Donnell who was supported by MsCarolan, Mrs Boylan, Ms Richards, Mr Shea,Mr Quill, Ben Mills (Year 12 2006) and theever present Michael Foy (Year 11) who soactively supported this project. It was a greatexample of the unique spirit of this schooluniting students and the community together.Rules and Responsibilities – the SRC lastweek ratified a set of class rules that willcomplement the other work being done tofinalise a school code of expectations. Nextterm this will be published for the wholecommunity to see. I was very impressed withthe maturity of discussion that took placewithin the SRC.Year 7 Goal Setting – it has been a hecticweek for teachers who volunteered to conductgoal setting interviews with Year 7 studentsand parents this week. In particular anenormous thanks must go to Ms O’Donnellwho has co-ordinated the interviews sosuccessfully. The benefit is to achieve a focusin learning and to concurrently affirm studentand parent confidence in the school. This is avery valuable exercise and I thank parents fortheir support.Year Assemblies – this year we have builtinto the calendar year assemblies across theschool to help engender the identities of eachyear and offer an opportunity for students tolead and showcase many of the activities theyare doing around the school. The assembliesthis week were very important in lettingstudents become accustomed to formality, gain information (especially for the seniors)and to set precedents for future assemblies. Ilook forward to the SRC increasing its role in
