Mike and his wife, Kathy, have three sons andlive in North Boston.Mistress of CeremoniesMs. Elizabeth (Starkey ’73) OwensElizabeth (Betty) Owens (Starkey ’73), A Certified OncologyNurse from the Oncology Nurses Certification Corporation,received her BSN from D’Youville College andher MSN as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Oncology fromUniversity at Buffalo. Recently retired after 33 years, Bettyspent her entire professional career as an oncology nurse atRoswell Park Cancer Institute where she served most of hertime as the Director of Nursing Education.Cancer patient care has also extended to Betty’s private lifeas well as a 28+ year volunteer for the American CancerSociety (ACS). Betty has served the ACS in many capacitiesover the years, most recently as the Second Vice Presidentfor the Eastern Division for New York & New Jersey andas a member of the National Volunteerism Business Groupin Atlanta. Betty was awarded the prestigious St. GeorgeNational Award from the American Cancer Society inrecognition of outstanding contributions to the Control ofCancer.A life- long South Buffalo resident Betty resides with herhusband Bill and since her retirement has returned toquilting and traveling.
