Become familiar with thebirds that call <strong>NH</strong> home. Meet our resident raptors up close and learn the basics ofbird behavior and bird watching. Onsite participants explore the area looking forsigns of birds and discovering which ones call our woods home. Explorers have theopportunity to visit raptor nest sites and observe birds various habitats around thestate.SESSION 2: July 5–8 (4 Days) Cycles of LifeNature is full of cycles. Life cycles, seasonality, forests succession, and the watercycle are examples we will learn about. What accounts for this and how do humansimpact the cyclic flow of nature? Campers will be immersed in the outdoors to answerthese questions. Onsite participants learn about the life cycle of amphibiansby visiting local wetlands and forest. Explorers learn about the rock cycle by visitingthe White Mountains and learn about forest succession by visiting a northern forest.SESSION 3: July 11–15<strong>NH</strong> Ecosystems<strong>New</strong> <strong>Hampshire</strong> is home to numerous types of ecosystems. We explore ecosystemsfrom the ocean to the mountains. Learn what types of animals and plants live ineach ecosystem and how they benefit one another. Explorers will visit <strong>NH</strong> <strong>Audubon</strong>sanctuaries to discover the valuable ecosystems we work to protect.SESSION 4: July 18–22Fields and ForestBoth <strong>Audubon</strong> centers abound with fields and forest. This week we will spend ourtime immersed in these environments exploring the bounty they offer. Come preparedfor time on the trails! We will learn the basics on identifying plants and animals.Explorers learn about different forest types by visiting woodlands around thestate.SESSION 5: July 25–29Keepers of the EarthHave you ever heard of a carbon footprint? Find out what yours is and how regulatingit can be beneficial to the Earth. This session focuses on increasing awareness ofthe impacts humans have on the Earth and ways to decrease our negative effects.Increase your knowledge on how to become a steward of the Earth. Explorers learnabout preservation, conservation, and sustainability by visiting <strong>NH</strong> parks and othernatural areas. On-site campers learn about recycling, composting and other waysthey can benefit the environment at home.SESSION 6: August 1–5Survival WeekEver wonder what you would do if you got lost in the woods? First, we focus on hownot to get lost and ways to remain safe while exploring. Second, we learn basic skillsthat could help us survive if we got lost. Come learn how to build a fire, construct ashelter, and most importantly, how to get found.SESSION 7: August 8–12Insect InvestigationsEach summer our fields and forest abound with insects. Learn about the beneficialqualities of these often overlooked animals. We will discover what insects are eatingand who is eating them. Each day we will search the surrounding area for insectsand learn the basics on how to identify what we find.
