Acting as Project Leader, extensive discussions and negotiations were held between the Transport DepartmentHeadquarters (Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalan, JPJ), Minsitry <strong>of</strong> Transport Malaysia, Driving Institutes (DIs), and theUniversity. Discussions between the first 2 parties involved the design requirements to suit and to <strong>of</strong>fer analternative to the present manual testing methodology (the mannual Highway Code Testing) while discussion withthe University includes the pricing and installation <strong>of</strong> s<strong>of</strong>twares scheduling strategies, and that led to the eventualsigning <strong>of</strong> the MOU between <strong>USM</strong> and JPJ.2. The SLUB s<strong>of</strong>tware was developed and marketed nationwide to all Malaysian Driving Institutes (DIs) (1995-2000).SLUB s<strong>of</strong>tware was developed for the Minsitry <strong>of</strong> Transport (Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalan) (JPJ) Malaysia anddownloaded at registered Driving Institutes (DIs) in Malaysia including Sabah and Sarawak.3. Over a period <strong>of</strong> six (6) years (1995-2000), a total <strong>of</strong> 624 licenses were sold nationwide at a price <strong>of</strong> RM1,200.00per license. TOTAL SALE: RM748,800.00 (RM: Seven hundred forty eight thousand and eight hundredonly).4. Besides the development <strong>of</strong> the Sistem Ujian Berkomputer (SUB) s<strong>of</strong>tware downloaded at registered DrivingInstitutes in Malaysia and was intended to support the computerized learning <strong>of</strong> highway code (SLUB) and servedto the communication protocal <strong>of</strong> JPJ Testing Division (Bahagian Pengujian).5. SUB was developed free <strong>of</strong> charge (based on agreement between both parties) and served as the testings<strong>of</strong>tware while candidates got their training through the use <strong>of</strong> SLUB s<strong>of</strong>tware.6.
