Page 3 of 12<strong>SDTA</strong> <strong>Bulletin</strong>Wests <strong>Tennis</strong> Club <strong>Tennis</strong> ScholarshipsThe Wests <strong>Tennis</strong> Club Sub-Committee is taking applications for financial assistance to junior tennisplayers, where the junior player meets the following:The athlete currently resides within the geographical boundaries of the <strong>Southern</strong> <strong>Districts</strong> <strong>Tennis</strong><strong>Association</strong> (<strong>SDTA</strong>) and has resided within those boundaries for a period of twelve (12) consecutivemonths: orPlays in any Competition or Annual Championships run by <strong>SDTA</strong>: orHas represented <strong>SDTA</strong>: andThe athlete must be coached by a qualified coach (<strong>Tennis</strong> Australia approved): andThe athlete must participate in 2 events run by <strong>SDTA</strong>: andThe athlete must nominate to represent <strong>SDTA</strong> in the NSW Hardcourt Interdistrict Competition: andPlay more them 50% of matches playableThe athlete must compete in 3 Australian Ranking Tournaments (Optus Junior Tour or AustralianMoney Tournament): andMust be a current financial member of <strong>SDTA</strong> for a period of twelve (12) consecutive monthsThe athlete must be committed to improving their Australian Ranking (ranking improvement will bedependant on current ranking and age and will be agreed upon by the sub-committee and athlete.The athlete must make them self available for <strong>SDTA</strong> Annual Open Day in January 2014.Application forms can be obtained from the <strong>SDTA</strong> website www.southerndistrictstennis.com.au or bycontacting the Secretary Michael Jackson.All enquiries and submissions to Michael Jackson on emailmj.fpv@hotmail.com Scholarship submissions MUST be addressed to the Secretary: MichaelJackson


<strong>SDTA</strong> <strong>Bulletin</strong> Page 4 of 12Changes to <strong>SDTA</strong> Senior CompetitionsEffective 1 July 2013, competition entry fees will be changed to a team registration fee instead of anindividual registration fee. The fees will be:• 3 Player Competitions – competitions requiring a minimum of 3 players per team - RegistrationFee: $50• 4 Player Competitions – competitions requiring a minimum of 4 players per team - RegistrationFee: $60Prize money will also be adjusted inline with the new entry fee format:• 3 Player Competitions – competitions requiring a minimum of 3 players per team - Prize Money:$150• 4 Player Competitions – competitions requiring a minimum of 4 players per team - Prize Money:$200These new formats will be applicable for all senior competitions which commence on, or after 1 July2013.All prize money will continue to be awarded at the completion of each competition in the form of a giftvoucher as noted in The <strong>Bulletin</strong> December 5th 2012 (Issue 53).For any questions regarding the changes to senior competitions, please contact your CompetitionSecretary<strong>SDTA</strong> Junior Players,<strong>SDTA</strong> McDonalds Junior Development SquadThe <strong>SDTA</strong> McDonalds Junior Development Squad has a number of vacancies and will be holdingFREE Trials on June 21st for junior players who are interested in joining.Players are accepted into the squad by invitation from the <strong>SDTA</strong> Committee, players are encouraged tosubmit an expression of interest in joining the squad. This FREE Trial session will provide junior playersan opportunity to trial the squad for a FULL session and express an interest in joining the squad inTerm 3 in a permanent position.The Squad is operated by <strong>SDTA</strong> and delivered by two qualified and experienced <strong>Tennis</strong> Australiacertified coaches. The squad is held for 8 weeks each school term on a Friday evening at Glen Alpine<strong>Tennis</strong> Centre. Each session runs for a total of 2 hours, consisting of 90 minutes of on court drills andexercises and 30 minutes of fitness training.The McDonalds Junior Development Squad costs $100 per term, and is subsidised by <strong>SDTA</strong> throughthe Junior Incentive Award Scheme.

The change reflects the newly adopted membership model of the <strong>Association</strong>.1. Resolution #1:To change clause 4. Membership Classification from:The <strong>Association</strong> shall consist of life members, ordinary members, associate members, and juniormembers.TO:The <strong>Association</strong> shall consist of life members, ordinary members, junior members and social members.2. Resolution #4:To add the following clause as 40.5Only a member of the <strong>Association</strong> may be present at a General Meeting.5. Our players had many good results and a selection is displayed below:Cormac Clissold won the Men’s singles as well as the men’s doubles with Nathan Lewis. Cormac wasalso successful in the mixed doubles playing with Jessica Barrett. What a great effort Cormac.Rhiannon Marlin was a semi-finalist in the wome’s singles and also in the women’s doubles withJessica Barrett.Belinda Barrett and Keith Clarke won the Special Mixed Doubles while Belinda was also runner-up inthe B Ladies doubles with Lisa Campbell.Cameron Baarendse won the A Grade Men’s singles and also the A Grade Men’s doubles with TrentCampbell.Allyse Lewis won the A Grade ladies singles while Julie Lewis was a semi-finlaist with Chris Clissold inthe B Grade Mixed Doubles. Chris was also runner-up in the C Grade Men’s singles.Ben Marlin and Michael Jackson were semi-finalists in the B Grade Men’s DoublesMadison Campbell won the B Grade Ladies Singles and also the B Grade Ladies Doubles with JodieCurry. Madison was also a semi-finalist in the A Grade Ladies Singles.Shane Curry won the C Grade Men’s singles and the C Grade Mixed Doubles with Wife Jodie. Shanewas also runner –up in the C Grade Men’s doubles with Neil Campbell.Last and not least Shantell Szarafinski was a semi-finalist in the C Grade Women’s doubles with herMother Sharyn and was also a semi-finalist in the C Grade Mixed Doubles with Sam Grasso.Congratulations to all of the above players for their fantastic results.
