More than one name is given due to the fact that all these names were Russian in origin; with the purchase of Alaska from Russia, the names were enumeratedby an English speaker. I have corrected the surnames in which the original enumerator misspelled using Agrafena's Children: Old Families of Ninilchik by Wayne Leman 1993Using this same source, I have added Mr. Leman's research on these individualsAgrafena's Chilren: Old Families of Ninilchik, used with written permission Feb 2010; thank you Mr. Leman26 Apr 1900 Census for Nenilchik; page 65A Enumeration District 15: Also Known as "Munina"Surname Given Name Month Year Age Relationship Birth Year Born Notes:Oskolkoff Gerasim x x 44 Head Feb 1854 AK s/o Aleksei Oskolkoff & Elena Grigorova Kvasnikoffaka Grassimm. 26 Apr 1882; d. 1920 est.grandson of Iakov Oskolkoff & Anna Shangin& Grigorii Gerasimich Kvasnikoff & Mavra Efimovna RastorguevOskolkoff Nastasia x x 31 Wife 8-Jan 1864 AK aka Anastasia; d/o Peter Kalashnikoff & Stefanida Slatin;b. 08 Jan 1864; d. 07 Nov 1929Anastasia was Aleut;1/2 sister to Matrona Balashoff of English BayOskolkoff Timothy x x 14 son Feb 1888 AKOskolkoff Fekla I. x x 9 dau 27-Mar 1890 AK aka Theressie; b. 27 Mar 1890; m. * Matrona's parents: Vasilif Balashoff Jr. & Matrona Meleshkin disappeared while traveling by boat near Port Graham, presumably drowning, Matrona was taken care of byMr. Moonin, priest of Kenai. Matrona was said to have been 13 when she married Gregorii, who was much older than she. Matrona could speak Aleut & Russian.*Anna Shangin's surname was inadvertently omitted in the indexed records of the Russian Orthodox Church which have been translated to English. The marriage ofIakov Oskolkoff to Anna is however recorded in the English records as having occurred in the Sitka diocese, 02 Oct 183, according to the Gregorian Calendar.Shangin is found in the original Russian - handwritten- church records, from which the English indexes were constructed. Many Shangin individuals listed in the churchrecords are of the Kodiak diocese, but some are from the Atka diocese. Aleut descendants of the early Shangins continue to live in Alaska today, especially in the Perryville and Chignik Lagoon areas and the mainland of Kodiak. (1993) Leontii Ostrogin married Anna Shangin Oskolkoff, widow of Iakov Oskolkov, who died in 1847. Leontii and Anna moved to Ninilchik soon after it as opened for settlement by "colonial citizens" who had been employed by theRussian-American fur trading company. They brought with them Anna Oskolkoff sons who were young men by then. Leontii's father was Gavril. Leontii's father was Gavril.Leontii Ostrogin was a creole (Aleut & Russian) In 1832 he was to be sent to the Ross settlement in California on the brig Polifem to make fittings for rowboats and other vessels, wheels, tools and iron objects ordered by the missions in California. On 09 May 1848, then in the Sitka diocese he married Anna Oskolkov.Their children included Mikhail b. 1849 - d. 1850; Agniia b. 1853, Vladimir b. 1854; Irina b. 1859; and Ioann b. 1861.
