The proposed degree will provide the education theory and practicum to teach LiberalArts education at secondary level until year 12. The Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Educationcourse is designed to give graduates a strong foundation in the areas of LOTE, Psychology,Literature, History, Social Sciences, Philosophy, Indigenous Studies and the necessary teachingskills to be effective teachers at the secondary school level. Along with the good teaching skillsacquired in the education units, this type of curriculum will prepare students to be skilled,engaging and innovative teachers. The joint degree will meet the needs of students wishing tocomplete a pre-service teacher education program, and will also prepare them to move into arange of subject areas.Demand and Funding:There is a strong industry demand for secondary teachers throughout Australia andoverseas. The expectation is that all places will be Commonwealth Supported Places.However, if there is a higher demand than predicted, full fee-paying places will be available.Some international fee-paying students may also be admitted.The projected commencing student enrolment in the Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Educationcourse is approximately 12 per year.
