Health Care Agency Information 

School of Health Sciences ~ Nursing 

It is an expectation of the Faculty of Health, that students read the 

following information prior to the commencement of clinical placement. Requirements for 

placement differ from agency to agency. Information may change without notice. 

Student obligations for Clinical Placement: 

Students are required to read the Clinical Placement Guidelines document prior to the commencement of 

any placement. 

ALL STUDENTS MUST HAVE: 

• Signed Clinical Placement Consent Form 

• National Police Check , Fit2Work or other which must be dated with the current academic year 

• Current Working with Children’s Check Card 

• Immunisation records 

• It is the responsibility of the student to make sure they have up to date immunisation and have 

evidence (paper work) to show Health Care Agencies proof of this immunisation. 

• All placements offered are subject to each student meeting their obligations for Police Checks and 

Working with Children’s Checks. Failure to comply will result in withdrawal of the placement offer. 

Failure to meet immunisation requirements may also result in students being unable to attend some 

placements. 

The above requirements are in addition to the specific requirements of the Health Care Agencies. 

The immunisations required are as follows: 

Hepatitis B 

Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR) 

Diphtheria, Polio, Tetanus and Pertussis (ADT) 

Tuberculosis (recent mantoux) 

Chickenpox for those who have not had the disease. 

Annual Influenza vaccine is highly recommended and is compulsory for some placements. 

All students must have their Original Police and Working with Children’s Check with them on Day 1 of their 

placement, and as stipulated in the following agency information. Police checks must be current for the 

academic year. Agencies may require these checks up to 4 weeks in advance. 

Please note that disclosures do not automatically preclude students from placements. However, should you 

have a disclosure, it is recommended that you discuss this with an appropriate representative of the agency 

as soon as possible, and at least 2 weeks prior to the commencement of your placement. 

Failure to comply with the above will prevent students from attending placements 

and a “Fail” grade may be recorded against the respective course.
