<strong>United</strong> <strong>Services</strong> (<strong>Portsmouth</strong>) <strong>Cricket</strong> <strong>Club</strong><strong>Emergency</strong> <strong>Procedures</strong><strong>Emergency</strong> EquipmentRoyal Navy Estates are responsible for all fire fighting equipment, first aid equipment in the clubhouse andground attendant’s office and the provision of a landline telephone at each site.The <strong>Club</strong> will ensure that each adult team captain and colts manager, or person responsible for a coltssession, has a suitable first aid kit and the use of a working mobile telephone. In addition the colt’s managerwill have all next of kin and medical condition details of young players in his/her possession. See checklistcontained within the Risk Assessment documentWhen dealing with an incident/accident:Anticipated ScenariosMedical <strong>Emergency</strong> – for Ambulance dial 999Stay calm but act swiftly and observe the situation.Assess what assistance is immediately to hand.Is there danger of further injuries? – if so, try to minimize the danger.Listen to what the injured person is saying.Alert a first-aider who should take appropriate action for minor injuries.In the event of the injuries/condition requiring specialist treatment, the emergency services must becalled without delay. Keep the person warm and keep onlookers at bay.DO NOT move someone with major injuries. Wait for specialists from the emergency services.If the injured person is a child contact their parent/carer.If A&E hospital treatment is required, and the person is ‘ambulant’, then the RPIC should arrange forthat person to be taken to the Queen Alexandra Hospital, map at the rear of this document. If theinjured person is a child then two responsible known adults should take them to hospital.If appropriate, that person’s family or next of kin should be contacted to let them know of the natureof the person’s injury and whereabouts.If the injured person is taken to hospital, ensure that all his/her personal belongings are collected upand returned to the injured person or his/her parent/carer in due course.After a serious incident/accidentThe incident/accident must be reported in the incident/accident book in the attendant’s office.Form ECB1, copy attached, must be completed and passed to the <strong>Club</strong> Welfare Officer or <strong>Club</strong>Secretary.Ensure that arrangements have been made to replenish any first aid supplies used.In the case of a serious injury to a child, ensure that the injured child and his/her parents arecontacted for ‘updates’ and arrange visits if appropriate.Ensure that an injured person does not resume playing until fit to do so.
