A Message from Mayor TammyIn Meridian, we are lucky to have many members of our community who generouslydonate countless hours towards programs, projects, and events that benefit us all. Ourvolunteers are a great example of our community as a whole; a caring community whogive their time and talents to so many great causes.Volunteers provide a broad source of expertise and manpower for City programs.In addition to what they give, they gain new skills, meet new people, develop greaterknowledge and understanding of city government, help address community issues, andgain personal satisfaction – all while making a difference here in Meridian.Annually, citizens donate more than 20,000 volunteer hours to the City of Meridian. Havingvolunteers involved in many projects saves taxpayers countless dollars and helps the Cityresponsibly utilize its resources.Continuing in that tradition, the Meridian Police Department is launching a new ParkVolunteer Program for Kleiner Park. This program will train citizen volunteers to be the“eyes and ears” of law enforcement within the park and to answer questions park visitorsmight have regarding the park’s amenities and the broader community.
