Strategy 2 - Student InvolvementWe will put into place a framework of independent and interdependent programs and opportunities toencourage and grow student involvement in extra and co-curricular activities.SPECIFIC RESULT: The district will designate a StudentActivities Coordinator who will be responsible for training andsupporting the Campus Student Activities Coordinators and serve asthe central contact for extra and co-curricular activities byestablishing policies and procedures.* Develop an annual training program for Campus Student ActivitiesCoordinators and Activity Advisors.* Convene a quarterly network meeting with the Campus StudentActivities Coordinators.* Continually seek out new opportunities to encourage and grow studentinvolvement in extra and co-curricular activities.* Liaise with the district’s Director of Communications to promote andpublicize student activity programs.* Provide a platform for community and civic organizations to engage inprogram sponsorship.* Create engaging web content to promote student involvement in extraand co-curricular activities.* Compile a resource guide including, but not limited to, guidelinesas well as relevant policies and procedures for use by Campus StudentActivities Coordinator and sponsors to ensure consistency throughout thedistrict.* Continually seek out new opportunities to encourage and grow studentinvolvement in extra and co-curricular activities.* Serve as a support system for campus activities sponsors.* Communicate current information about extra and co-curricularactivities with the campus, district, and community.* Maintain and distribute campus activities/events calendar.* Oversee campus extra and co-curricular fund raising activities.SPECIFIC RESULT: Use a media environment that effectivelycommunicates with parents and students about extra andco-curricular activities.* The <strong>District</strong> will support a website that provides current links to acomplete list and descriptions of campus student activity program pagesacross the ISD.* Each campus will maintain a page on their website containing currentinformation and contacts for all extra and co-curricular studentactivity programs including downloadable or online forms for enrollmentor parental permission.* The <strong>District</strong> will implement a communication process that facilitatesupdating website content by campus student activity coordinators andprogram sponsors.SPECIFIC RESULT: Each campus, along with the <strong>District</strong> StudentActivities Coordinator, will designate Campus Student ActivitiesCoordinator who will be responsible for coordinating and promotingstudent involvement in extra and co-curricular activities.*Liaise with the DSAC.* Attend annual training and quarterly meetings arranged by the DSAC.Strategy 3 - Post Secondary ReadinessWe will strategically organize the district to provide instructionalprograms to prepare students for post-secondary readiness.SPECIFIC RESULT: Campus grade level grouping will bereconfigured.* Establish an internal taskforce comprised of BISD employees toreconfigure campuses to K-5, 6-8, 9-12.* Collect research to support reconfiguration.* Establish an external task force to include key internal BISD task forcemembers, parents, community members, and business personnel from allareas of attendance zones.* Establish a timeline and tasks such as rationale for reconfiguration,researching building capacities, cost analysis, etc. for the spring andsummer meetings with the internal committee.* Establish a timeline and tasks such as FAQ’s, communication strategies,etc. for the spring and summer meetings with the external committee.* Develop timeline and content for “town hall” meetings for communitymembers.* Develop calendar and content of Parent Information Night(s)* Examine campus student capacities and grade level spans, feederpatterns and growth patterns.* Draft boundary maps.* Determine final student capacity and grade levels.* Determine final boundary maps.* Develop publicity materials (brochure, poster, etc.).* Disseminate PR materials-posters, brochures, websites, news releasesexplaining reconfiguration and public information materials.
