Strategy 5 - CharacterWe will promote age appropriate character development withemphasis on modeling common expectations of behavior.Specific Result: Implement a community/school service program.* Each Principal will designate a list of grade-level service opportunities,through the campus site-base committee to be offered and promotedthrough the social studies curriculum/classroom.* Each Principal will monitor the documentation for students and staffwho have participated in the service opportunities.* Campus administrators will be responsible for documentation and communicationto the Service Center of completed community projects.Specific Result: Implement a character development program at eachcampus.* Every campus will recognize students and staff members who are modelingand demonstrating Common Expectation of Positive Character traits* Monthly character traits will be communicated by each campus.* Integration of Character Education will be included within the classroomin yearly evaluations of all staff.* Each Site Based Campus Improvement <strong>Plan</strong> Committee will includeCharacter Education in the CIP.* All staff will receive ongoing staff training and support for characterdevelopment.* Secondary campuses will implement a specific program to address theunique needs of teensStrategy 6 - RelationshipsWe will encourage our diverse community to ensure the social andemotional well-being of our students and families.SPECIFIC RESULT: The district will implement a standardizedsystem using proactive, preventative programs and strategies foridentifying and serving students and families with social and emotionalconcerns.* Designate a <strong>District</strong> Intervention Coordinator.* Coordinate a Community Intervention Team.* Designate a Campus Intervention Specialist at each campus.* Develop a standardized system for identifying and serving students withemotional and social concerns.* Publish an online guide that outlines the programs and services availablethat support the emotional and social well being of students andfamilies.* Train each Campus Intervention Specialist and campus staff on how toimplement the standardized system.* Conduct awareness sessions with staff and parents on the standardizedsystem and available resources.* Conduct periodic status checks with all Campus Intervention Specialiststo ensure the system is implemented with fidelity.* Evaluate the system and make appropriate adjustments annually.SPECIFIC RESULT: The district will implement a standardizeddiscipline management system based on the principles of Dr. RubyPayne, Love and Logic and Emotional Intelligence.* Designate a district discipline management coordinator/trainer.* Establish a one year staff development calendar for full implementationof a standardized discipline management system based on Ruby Payne,Love and Logic and Emotional Intelligence.* Identify sources of funding to establish the district management system.* Purchase resources for the district and campuses based on Ruby Payne,Love and Logic and Emotional Intelligence.* Conduct a comprehensive discipline management awareness sessionduring the beginning of the year for the entire district.* Designate a campus discipline management committee that oversees thefull implementation of a standardized discipline management system.* Ensure new teachers and administrators receive orientation in the district’sstandardized discipline management system.* Evaluate and adjust the standardized discipline management systemsemi-annually.SPECIFIC RESULT: All campuses will implement a comprehensivesocial education program that includes bullying/harassment, drugand alcohol abuse, violence and human sexuality.* Designate a district coordinator/trainer .* Train the coordinator on the district-approved social education program* Establish a staff development calendar for implementation of socialeducation program.* Implement district-wide social education program as prescribed at eachcampus.* Ensure consistency of district and campus implementation by includingprogram in each campus improvement plan.* Provide ongoing monitoring and support for campuses to implementprogram.* Evaluate the program and make appropriate adjustments annually.
