2006 Game RecapsGame 11 - Northern Illinois 31, CMU 10November 17 • DeKalb, IllinoisGarrett Wolfe ran for 203 yards and three touchdowns to leadNorthern Illinois to a 31-10 win.NIU controlled the contest from the outset, driving for touchdownson three of its first four possessions while holding the Chippewas tothree punts and a pair of turnovers in the first half. The Huskies held a214-140 edge in total offense in the opening two quarters.Wolfe scored on runs of 10 and 2 yards, respectively, to cap NIU’sfirst two drives, while Dan Nicholson tossed a 20-yard touchdown passto David Koronkiewicz midway through the second quarter to make it21-0.The Chippewas drew no closer than 14 points in the second half.Dan LeFevour threw a 1-yard touchdown pass to Ontario Sneed tomake it 21-7, and after NIU’s Chris Nendick and CMU’s Rick Albreskitraded field goals, Wolfe scored on a 13-yard run in the closingminutes.Wolfe amassed his 203 yards on 33 carries. The CMU defense forced a three-and-out, and Brazzelblocked a punt that the Chippewas recovered at the UB 23. MarcelArcher scored on a 1-yard run, and a two-point conversion made it14-0 less than four minutes into the contest.The Bulls answered with a Steven King 1-yard touchdown run, butLeFevour responded just two plays later, hitting a wide-open JustinGardner down the middle of the field for a 66-yard touchdown.Buffalo punted three times and fumbled on its next fourpossessions; meanwhile, LeFevour threw scoring passes of 11 and12 yards to Bryan Anderson and ran 2 yards for a touchdown. 2006 Game RecapsGame 13 - CMU 31, Ohio 10November 30 • Detroit, MichiganDamien Linson caught seven passes for a MAC ChampionshipGame-record 191 yards and a touchdown as CMU claimed its firstconference title since 1994 with a 31-10 win over Ohio at Ford Field.Linson made five catches of at least 22 yards, including a 71-yardtouchdown in the second quarter that put CMU in front for good. Hewas named CMU’s Most Valuable Player.Ohio entered the championship game allowing just 16.2 points and291.6 yards of total offense per contest, first and second, respectively,in the MAC. CMU posted 31 points and 457 yards of offense, seasonhighsagainst OU.Dan LeFevour completed all five of his attempts as the Chippewasdented the end zone on their second possession. On second-andfivefrom the 6-yard line, Obed Cétoute out-leaped a defender in thecorner of the end zone to open the scoring.Ohio needed to drive just 32 yards for its lone touchdown.
