6. Scholarships through the <strong>Tanzania</strong> Government<br />
<strong>Admissions</strong> <strong>Guidebook</strong> <strong>for</strong> Higher Education Institutions in <strong>Tanzania</strong><br />
The Government of <strong>Tanzania</strong> offers Scholarships on behalf of the Governments of Algeria<br />
and Mozambique <strong>for</strong> undergraduate studies through bilateral agreements. The scholarships<br />
are <strong>for</strong> studies tenable in institutions in the respective countries.<br />
7. Minimum entry requirements <strong>for</strong> Admission into Higher Education Institutions<br />
The minimum entry requirements set by <strong>TCU</strong> <strong>for</strong> University institutions and NACTE <strong>for</strong><br />
non-University institutions are as follows:<br />
(a) For those with ‘A’ Level Secondary Education qualifications, the minimum entry<br />
into degree programmes offered by universities shall be TWO principal passes and<br />
a total of 2.5 points;<br />
(b) For those with NTA Level 6 qualifications, the minimum entry into degree<br />
programmes offered by universities shall be Second Lower Class;<br />
(c) For those with Diploma in Teacher Education qualifications, the minimum entry<br />
into degree programmes shall be an average of ‘B’ Grade;<br />
(d) For those with other Diploma qualifications, the minimum entry into degree<br />
programmes offered by universities shall be as follows:<br />
i. For classified awards: The minimum entry shall be “Second Lower Class”;<br />
ii. For classified awards in terms of Distinction, Credit or Pass” The minimum<br />
entry shall be “Credit” and<br />
iii. For unclassified awards such as Health-related awards: The minimum entry<br />
shall be “an average of ‘B’ grade ‘B’ Grade;<br />
(e) For holders of a one year post Form VI Certificates, the minimum entry qualification<br />
into degree programmes shall be an average of ‘B’ grade.<br />
(f) One year Post-Form IV Certificate obtained after the candidate has engaged <strong>for</strong><br />
Certificate studies beyond Form IV, and with a working experience of not less than<br />
two years, the minimum entry qualification into degree programmes shall be an<br />
average of ‘B’ Grade;<br />
(g) For those with Full Technician Certificate (FTC) qualifications, the minimum entry<br />
intro degree programmes shall be an average of ‘C’ grade.<br />
However, institutions may set the requirements higher than those of <strong>TCU</strong> or<br />
NACTE.<br />
8. Application fee<br />
<strong>Tanzania</strong>ns will be required to pay an application fee of TShs 30,000/- payable through<br />
NBC branches countrywide<br />
Non-<strong>Tanzania</strong>ns will be required to pay US$ 60 through CAS Account at any NBC Bank<br />
countrywide (<strong>TCU</strong>-CAS Acc. No. 074139000021).<br />
Applicants residing outside <strong>Tanzania</strong> will be required to pay US$ 60 through CAS Account<br />
number (<strong>TCU</strong>-CAS Acc. No. 074139000021). The swift code: NLCBTZTX<br />

Note: The pre-paid cards should be retained after use <strong>for</strong> future reference when need<br />
