<strong>Environmental</strong> <strong>Product</strong> <strong>Declaration</strong> for Reno de Medici PaperboardWLC VinciLiner 115 - 210 g/m 2results are divided into Upstream (raw material, energy andThis is an <strong>Environmental</strong> <strong>Product</strong> <strong>Declaration</strong> for Reno de Medici, registered in the <strong>International</strong> EPD<strong>System</strong> (www.environdec.com). <strong>The</strong> declaration has been developed based on the results of a LifeCycle Assessment (LCA) and the <strong>Product</strong> Category Rules for Processed paper and paperboard PCR2010:14 and CPC Code 3214.Information and data given in this EPD can be used as upstream data by a customer who will perform anew EPD within the system boundaries given in a related PCR.Reno de Medici<strong>The</strong> Reno De Medici Group is the leading Italian and second-ranked European producer of cartonboardbased on recycled material. It has a production capacity of about 1 million tons splitted among severalmills in Italy, Spain, France and Germany. <strong>The</strong> different types of cartonboard that Reno De Mediciproduces target all packaging and binding applications. <strong>The</strong> Reno De Medici products are offeredthrough different brands to meet the customer’s requirements and to achieve a widespread presence inItaly, as well as abroad.<strong>The</strong> Villa S.Lucia site where the product in subject is manufactured is FSC and ISO14001 certified.<strong>The</strong> specific product complies with prevailing legislation at both national and European level and istherefore safe and suitable for the food market.Cartonboard VinciLiner 115Board VinciLiner 115 is a fully coated white lined chipboard with grey back made out of more than95% recovered fibres. This cartonboard is very well suited for beverages, detergents & cleaning, foodand non food industries as well as for lining of corrugated paperboard outercases.It is available in grammages from 160 g/m 2 to 290 g/m 2 .<strong>System</strong> boundaries and functional unit<strong>The</strong> systems are divided into three life cycle phases:Upstream: Forestry, production of fertilisers used in the forestry, production of energy wares,production of auxiliary products, pigments, additives and other chemicals production of other rawmaterials, production of packaging for transport.Core: Transportation of all materials to the core processes, recycling process of purchased recycledpaper, production of purchased pulp, production of cartonboard, impregnation and pigment coating ofcartonboard, cutting and packing of the product and treatment of waste generated from the productionprocesses.Downstream: Distribution of the product to an average converter/merchant/distribution platform andwaste management of transport packaging.Plans, energy1

Recyclability and recovery<strong>The</strong> product VinciLiner 115 grammage 210g/m2 is recoverable through material recycling and energyrecovery in accordance with the material requirements in EN 13430:2004 and EN 13431:2004.Biodegradable<strong>The</strong> product VinciLiner 115 grammage 210g/m2 is based (being either fresh or recovered fibers) onpulp consisting of cellulose, hemicellulose and some lignin which will be degraded by microorganismsin nature. <strong>The</strong> decomposition time required depends on several factors such as temperature, humidity,pH and microbiological activity.Main referencesEriksson E., Karlsson P.-E., Hallberg L., Jelse K., 2010.
