EditorialSpring is a season of newness and change and it certainly has been a period ofnewness and change in Australian Chito-Ryu over the last few months. Twodojos hosted their first ever tournaments and all dojos have begun the processof changing belt colours.I have competed in tournaments for about 10 years in total and in all that time Ihave been simply a competitor walking in to a venue all set-up and ready to go.For the first time this year I was responsible for hosting a tournament, I can tellyou now I am a lot less nervous facing Sensei Martin Phillips in kumite then Iwas leading up to the 1 st Annual Gold Coast Cup, but with the help of all thevolunteers and the support of the senior members of the ICKFA it all went well. Ihave always said thank you to the officials and volunteers who make atournament happen but now I hope it comes across with an extra specialmeaning. Next time your at a tournament take the time to thank the people thatmake a tournament work, they don't do it for themselves or for any financial gainthey do it simply for the love of Chito-Ryu.Keep reading inside for the reports from the Sunshine Coast, Bathurst and GoldCoast tournaments. The last tournament for the year is the ICKFA National titlesand Mark Snow Sensei as said it will be our biggest tournament yet so makesure you don't miss out! Good luck to all competitors and officials, and of coursethank you to all those behind the scenes people that make it all happen. In most dojos now the new belt system will have been introduced. This is aterrific change for Australian Chito-Ryu reflecting the changing times, I know thatthe new colours look fantastic in the Gold Coast Dojo and the change has beenvery well received by both parents and students alike. The change in belt colourswas not a light decision and was a result of numerous discussions between thesenior regional ICKFA instructors and most importantly was made in conjunctionand with the support of the Sohonbu. Finally I would like to pass on best wishes to Craig Cox Sensei who has movedto Japan to be with his wife as they await their first child. Craig Cox Sensei willbe sorely missed in Sydney were he has been a key part of Sydney Chito-Ryufor a number of years. Cox Sensei was the original editor of the River ofKnowledge and hopefully he will keep in regular contact as the “mouth from theEast” in future issues.Enjoy the issue, and keep enjoying your training!RegardsAdam HigginsQuestions, comments, contributions?Send to adam.higgins@gckarate.com.auRiverOfKnowledgePublisherInternational Chito-Ryu Karate Federationof AustraliaEditorAdam HigginsGraphic DesignAdam HigginsContributorsMike NoonanMark SnowMartin PhillipsSandra PhillipsGreg FieldAdam HigginsShane KerColin PhillipsICKFA MembersROKc/- Adam Higgins3 Wood Crt, Arundel.
