Born on April 30, 1954, thethird child to his now deceased parents James Larry Block, Sr. and BettySue Hensley Block, Jim is survived by his daughter, Jenna Binger and herhusband Lyle. “Grizpa” will be missed by his grandson, Liam and his twogranddaughters, Peyton and Preslie. He is also survived by two sisters:Jennie Holloway and Jamie Block, and three nephews: Patrick Holloway(Deanna), Kevin Holloway (Erin), and Darik Peet (Kate). He will be missedby many friends.Jim, whose heritage can be traced to the Mayflower and to WilliamBradford and to Stephen F. Austin’s “Original 300,” was a proud Texan.He followed the example of his Uncle Harlon Block, who helped raise theflag on Iwo Jima, by becoming a Marine. Prior to his retirement heworked as an engineer on many domestic and international cutting edgeprojects. As a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerationand Air-conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), Jim presented lectures bothnationally and internationally on environmental research and energyconservation. He had several articles published in the ASHRAE Journal. Inaddition to his yearly trips to Yellowstone Park, his need to own a Jeep,his love of the Renaissance Festival, being a creative writer winningawards for his poetry, and an accomplished artist, Jim’s one true lovewas golfing. Alvin Golf and Country Club won’t be the same without him.Jim was a believer in God and in tithing. He tithed for 20 years to Feedthe Children Organization. At his request please tithe to the charity ofyour choice. The family wishes to thank Brittany and James Robicheauxfor their continued love and support to Jenna.Final services will be held at a later date.Arrangements under the direction of Froberg Funeral Home.Vina Hulsey John S.
