BackgroundUltrasound, hysterosalpingography and laparoscopy orsurgery have until now been <strong>the</strong> mainstays <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>diagnosis</strong><strong>of</strong> MDAs. 7 All <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>se modalities have inherent limitations,however, particularly in <strong>the</strong> differentiation between septateand bicornuate uteri. 8<strong>MRI</strong> has been shown to be an accurate and non-invasivemethod <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> evaluation <strong>of</strong> MDAs. 9,10 <strong>MRI</strong> is also helpfulin elucidating <strong>the</strong> etiology <strong>of</strong> obstructed MDAs and isparticularly useful in patients in whom surgical unification isanticipated. 11,12
