Executive SummaryThe food crisis related to the flowering of bamboo and the rat invasion made theobject of an in depth food security assessment in <strong>Chittagong</strong> <strong>Hill</strong> <strong>Tracts</strong>. The assessment wasorganized between 13 th march and 13 th april in Sajek union, Rangamati district, area inhabited byapprox. 40000 people and occupying 607 sqmiles. This area was mentioned in several reports as oneof the most affected and as well represents a region where <strong>MSF</strong> used to work in the past, therefore itwas possible for us to gain quick access to the affected population.Sajek union represents a very remote area, difficult to access (challenging fromsecurity and physical access perspective) with very little information available. The list of villages andthe map of the area were crosschecked with the village leaders. All 6 administrative units of theunion as well as the Kasalong reserve forest area were covered by the assessment. From eachadministrative unit a certain number of villages were randomly selected according to themethodology. Selection of the households in which the questionnaires were applied was as welldone randomly at village level.During this assessment the teams visited and collected information from 34 villages(25.3% from the total number of villages in Sajek Union), they performed 358 MUAC measurementsin
