Prior to thecompetition the club designedteam ‘hoodies’ which had a greatimpact on the morale of the team. The first event was the waterpolo, the whole team took partin this even though the team hadlittle if any experience beforehand.RAF Marham came second in allof the games. It was a great dealof hard work but enjoyed by all.Following tiredness fromthe water-polo, RAF Marham’smain event - The Swimming!Bearing in mind RAF Marhampersonnel were swimmingagainst RAF swimmers in nearlyevery event, podium positionswere unexpected, However theresults told a different story!A/Cpl James Nicholasachieved two Gold’s for 50mButterfly (also a personal besttime) and 100m Breastrokeand a Bronze in the IndividualMedley (also a personal best).LAC Claire Hobbs achievedtwo Silvers in the 50m and 100mBreastroke and two Bronze’s inthe 100m Butterfly and 200mFreestyle (all personal best times).SAC Eleri Davies also achievedtwo Silvers in the 50m Butterflyand Individual Medley and twoBronze’s In the 100m and 50mFreestyle (all personal best times).SAC Verity Elward achievedGold and a personal best timein the 50m Backstroke. The remaining club memberswho unfortunately just missedout on a podium position, allachieved a personal best time intheir individual swims and swamfantastically in the relay events, which was a hot event for all theRAF stations competing for thefinal points of the competition.A further mention to F/S PaulKendall, an RAF swimming officialwho also competed for RAFMarham in the diving event duringhis busy two days refereeing. The women’s team came thirdoverall in the competition andthe men’s team came fourth.Overall, after competing in allthree disciplines of the competitionand with more personnel attendingthe competition from RAF Marhamthan seen in the last ten years, RAFMarham came FOURTH overall! It was an exciting two daysand we all look forward tonext year’s competition.Dyer was broughtup in Ramsey andlearned to box atMarch AmateurBoxing Club.
