Volunteers Needed!Basketry Demonstration DayBellevue Arts MuseumSaturday, Feb. 7 th , 2009The Guild has been invited by the Bellevue ArtsMuseum to host a table at their BasketryDemonstration Day on Saturday, February 7 th .They have invited several of our members todemonstrate: Dona Anderson, Katherine Lewis,Dorothy McGuinness, Bill Roeder, and JudyZugish. They would like to have a table wherevisitors would be able to actually try weaving abasket, by working on a “community” weavingproject. Our thought is to have a few large basket framesmade up ahead of time, and a variety of suitablematerials available to weave with: reed, seagrass, jute, heavy yarn, etc (nothing really small). In addition to helping people with the project, members who are staffing the table could bedoing some materials preparation, makingcordage…and we’re open to suggestions.Materials should be fairly easy to use, with not alot of preparation required, and basket framescould be a variety of styles – an egg basket, awicker style, a random weave form…To make this happen, we need some volunteersupport for various things:• Weave a basic basket frame to be usedthat day.• Donate materials to be used.• Help that day at the museum. If you would be interested in helping with thisproject and/or have materials to donate, pleasecontact Mary Irvine, 206-789-1067,ime@qwest.net.Materials could be dropped off at the Januaryguild meeting, but we would like to have someidea of what is coming.More Events in January:A Month Celebrating Basketry Arts Council of Snohomish CountyContainers, Contained and ContentsJanuary 9 - February 12, 2009Opening reception: January 9, 5 to 8 pmartscouncilofsnoco.org MuseoBaskets, an EvolutionJanuary 9 - February 1, 2009Museo.cc Pacini Lubel GalleryContemporary BasketryJanuary 8 - January 31, 2009Opening reception: January 8 6-8 pmpacinilubel.com Snow Goose AssociatesContemporary Native BasketryOpening reception January 9, 2009 6-8 pmsgassociates@quest.netRetreat UpdateHave You Sent in Your Spring RetreatRegistration?
