Atour 2007 Women of Excellence event,we honoured seven women and gavea Lifetime Achievement Award toWomen’s Community House. Wepartnered in the inaugural London-Middlesex Children’s Water Festivalat the Fanshawe Conservation Area.Our Child Care Centres collectedapproximately 1500 pounds of foodfor our local food banks. The YMCAChildren’s Safety Village celebrated its6th birthday.As we move forward, we have significantgrowth plans to meet the needsof our community. We launchedour Capital Campaign, “RediscoverYour Y”, on June 8. The Campaignincludes three projects and a whole lotof fundraising! The total amount to beraised by the YMCA of London is $9.1million. You will see the words, “build,rebuild and renew” repeatedly! We willbuild a new North London CommunityCentre, we will rebuild our belovedCamp Queen Elizabeth, cabin by cabinand we will renew the Bob HaywardYMCA.On September 7th, we will be hostingwith the City and the Library, aribbon cutting ceremony on the siteof the future North London CommunityCentre .On September 8, we will be introducingour new youth interactiveequipment at our London branches,Woodstock, Strathroy and St.Thomas. During the month of Maywe ran focus groups with childrenages 6 to 16 at each branch to findout what piece of equipment theyliked the best, the least and so onbefore we purchased the items.September 19th we will be inVictoria Park once again for oursecond annual “Largest FitnessEvent”. This event promotes healthyliving and active lifestyles.As we move forward, the YMCA ofLondon is committed to working independentlyand cooperatively withour growing number of communitypartners in London, Woodstock,Strathroy and St. Thomas.London Y -East LondonBranchThe EastLondonBranch hascardioequipment,selectorized weight equipment &a free weight section. Individuals of all ages are invited to use the Job ConnectIRS to access information on careers and occupations, the local jobmarket, training and skilled trades opportunities and job-searchstrategies. Computers, fax and phone are available for employmentrelated activities.If appropriate, individuals will be assigned a Job Connect consultantwhose expertise can help identify employment related skills,set workplace goals and assist with job placement. Employers canregister their vacancies and receive screened referrals from JobConnect.
