A<strong>to</strong>ur 2007 Women of Excellence event,we honoured seven women and gavea Lifetime Achievement Award <strong>to</strong>Women’s Commun<strong>it</strong>y House. Wepartnered in the inaugural <strong>London</strong>-Middlesex Children’s Water Festivalat the Fanshawe Conservation Area.Our Child Care Centres collectedapproximately 1500 pounds of foodfor our local food banks. The YMCAChildren’s Safety Village celebrated <strong>it</strong>s6th birthday.As we move forward, we have significantgrowth plans <strong>to</strong> meet the needsof our commun<strong>it</strong>y. We launchedour Cap<strong>it</strong>al Campaign, “RediscoverYour Y”, on June 8. The Campaignincludes three projects and a whole lo<strong>to</strong>f fundraising! The <strong>to</strong>tal amount <strong>to</strong> beraised by the YMCA of <strong>London</strong> is $9.1million. You will see the words, “build,rebuild and renew” repeatedly! We willbuild a new North <strong>London</strong> Commun<strong>it</strong>yCentre, we will rebuild our belovedCamp Queen Elizabeth, cabin by cabinand we will renew the Bob HaywardYMCA.On September 7th, we will be hostingw<strong>it</strong>h the C<strong>it</strong>y and the <strong>Library</strong>, aribbon cutting ceremony on the s<strong>it</strong>eof the future North <strong>London</strong> Commun<strong>it</strong>yCentre .On September 8, we will be introducingour new youth interactiveequipment at our <strong>London</strong> branches,Woods<strong>to</strong>ck, Strathroy and St.Thomas. During the month of Maywe ran focus groups w<strong>it</strong>h childrenages 6 <strong>to</strong> 16 at each branch <strong>to</strong> <strong>find</strong>out what piece of equipment theyliked the best, the least and so onbefore we purchased the <strong>it</strong>ems.September 19th we will be inVic<strong>to</strong>ria Park once again for oursecond annual “Largest F<strong>it</strong>nessEvent”. This event promotes healthyliving and active lifestyles.As we move forward, the YMCA of<strong>London</strong> is comm<strong>it</strong>ted <strong>to</strong> working independentlyand cooperatively w<strong>it</strong>hour growing number of commun<strong>it</strong>ypartners in <strong>London</strong>, Woods<strong>to</strong>ck,Strathroy and St. Thomas.<strong>London</strong> Y -East <strong>London</strong>BranchThe East<strong>London</strong>Branch hascardioequipment,selec<strong>to</strong>rized weight equipment &a free weight section.
