Over the course of thesummer, nearly 30 caterpillars wereraised and released - a significantcontribution to the reported butterflyboom of last summer.Butterfly season will soon be hereagain, and Cherryhill and Landonbranch staff have already startedcombing local fields and roadsides insearch of eggs and caterpillars. The caterpillars, chrysalises andbutterflies that were on display at thelibrary were a great attraction for youngand old alike. These creatures, withtheir black, white and yellow stripes, are eye-catching and fascinatingto observe and the emergence of abutterfly is an exciting event to witness.Families made regular visits to thelibrary to check on the caterpillars andone young patron even refused toleave the library for hours because shedid not want to miss the emergenceof a butterfly.
