Corporate Social Responsibility<br />

Activities & Sponsorships<br />

We are engaged in several initiatives to contribute to the social, cultural and educational development in its various<br />

locations including support to schools, sponsorship support to cultural and social activities, training, encouraging<br />

talent development and development projects and events. We have also contributed to the economic development<br />

initiatives <strong>of</strong> the Government and to the entrepreneurship development programs. Some <strong>of</strong> the major CSR related<br />

activities undertaken by <strong>RAK</strong> <strong>Ce</strong>ramics in 2010 are illustrated below :-<br />

Earth Day<br />

The company celebrated Earth Day by committing to plant over<br />

5000 trees around its manufacturing plant vicinity in 2010. <strong>RAK</strong><br />

<strong>Ce</strong>ramics employees joined in the activity by planting 500 trees<br />

on Earth Day while additional 4500 trees were planted during<br />

the course <strong>of</strong> the year and this was a strong message <strong>of</strong> <strong>RAK</strong><br />

<strong>Ce</strong>ramics commitment to protect the environment.<br />

Flood Relief Fund<br />

<strong>RAK</strong> <strong>Ce</strong>ramics raised fund for Pakistan Floods Relief, where all<br />

the employees contributed in helping the displaced people to<br />

overcome the natural calamity within our region <strong>of</strong> operation.<br />

The total amount for the relief was given to ARY TV, who in turn<br />

utilized in providing food for 400 displaced Pakistani families<br />

for suffering due the floods. In addition, clothes, blankets, nonperishable<br />

and fresh relief items were sent across to Pakistan.<br />

Blood Donor Day<br />

As part <strong>of</strong> the ongoing commitment to CSR initiatives, <strong>RAK</strong><br />

<strong>Ce</strong>ramics participated in World Blood Donor Day campaign<br />

on 14 June 2010 by conducting blood donation drive<br />

with Saqr Hospital at <strong>RAK</strong> <strong>Ce</strong>ramics Medical <strong>Ce</strong>ntre within<br />

<strong>RAK</strong> <strong>Ce</strong>ramics premises. The campaign was conducted in<br />

coordination with Saqr Hospital from Ras Al Khaimah and was<br />

kick-started with senior management executives donating<br />

their blood for the noble cause and the campaign met with an<br />

overwhelming response from <strong>RAK</strong> <strong>Ce</strong>ramics.<br />

2nd PAN IIM Alumni Gulf Summit<br />

<strong>RAK</strong> <strong>Ce</strong>ramics participated as Gold Sponsor <strong>of</strong> the 2nd Pan IIM<br />

Alumni Gulf Summit, a Dubai based event that gathered over<br />

250 prominent corporate leaders and entrepreneurs from India<br />

and the Middle East. It was organized under the theme “New<br />

Global Economic Paradigm – Spotlight on India.<br />

UAE Clean-up Campaign<br />

<strong>RAK</strong> <strong>Ce</strong>ramics participated in the ninth edition <strong>of</strong> the Clean<br />

up UAE campaign, a clean-up drive organised by the Emirates<br />

Environmental Group (EEG) that was simultaneously conducted<br />

across different locations in UAE. Around 50 <strong>RAK</strong> <strong>Ce</strong>ramics<br />

employees and senior managers volunteered to clean up<br />

a section <strong>of</strong> the Ras Al Khaimah beach during the activity,<br />

which was organised as part <strong>of</strong> a global campaign against<br />

environmental degradation and climate change.<br />

UAE Logos - World Record Breating Event<br />

<strong>RAK</strong> <strong>Ce</strong>ramics logo is part <strong>of</strong> Guinness World Records by sponsoring<br />

UAE Logos event that involved the billboard with the world’s<br />

maximum logos <strong>of</strong> 1233 corporate logos and <strong>RAK</strong> <strong>Ce</strong>ramics logo<br />

was featured twice on the billboard. Besides Guinness World<br />

Records, the record has also been earlier acknowledged by<br />

Universal Record Database (URDB) World Records.<br />

Dubai Autism <strong>Ce</strong>nter & Dubai Rehabilitation <strong>Ce</strong>nter<br />

Sponsorship<br />

<strong>RAK</strong> <strong>Ce</strong>ramics served as one <strong>of</strong> the main sponsors <strong>of</strong> UAE Logos<br />

2010 and as part <strong>of</strong> its sponsorship went to Dubai Autism <strong>Ce</strong>nter<br />

and Dubai Rehabilitation <strong>Ce</strong>nter to coincide with UAE National<br />

Day <strong>Ce</strong>lebration.<br />

NEBOSH International <strong>Ce</strong>rtificate<br />

NEBOSH International <strong>Ce</strong>rtificate (National Examination Board in<br />

Occupational Safety and Health) UK based was awarded to <strong>RAK</strong><br />

<strong>Ce</strong>ramics’ HSE Department under <strong>RAK</strong> <strong>Ce</strong>ramics sponsorship.<br />

The NEBOSH <strong>Ce</strong>rtificate in Occupational Health and Safety is<br />

a globally recognised qualification that is held by more than<br />

100,000 people in the UK and worldwide.<br />

Environmental Performance <strong>Ce</strong>rtificate<br />

<strong>RAK</strong> <strong>Ce</strong>ramics is been recently awarded with the Environmental<br />

Performance <strong>Ce</strong>rtificate (EPC) by the UAE Ministry <strong>of</strong><br />

Environment and Water (MOEW), in recognition <strong>of</strong> its successful<br />

efforts to comply with environmental protection standards and<br />

regulations.<br />
