SHIMMING INSTRUCTIONSFor No-Tilt Fifth WheelsIMPORTANTSHIMMING INSTRUCTIONSFOR NO-TILT FIFTH WHEELSApprox. 1/8gap requiredNew No-Tilt assemblies come properly shimmed from the factory. Whenever a Topplateor No-Tilt Bracket is replaced in the field the front No-Tilt stops MUST be re-shimmed.21Topplate restingon rear stopsShimming instructionsStep 1Be sure the rear tilt stops are engaged. Set the trailerbrakes, pull forward and set the tractor brakes. Thiswill rotate the topplate until it is resting on the rearstops (see Figure 1).Step 2Rotate the front stops in under the topplate. Now, slide theshims provided between the topplate skirt and the frontstops (see Figure 3) to achieve an approximate 1/8-inchgap (see Figure 1). You may not need to use all the shimsprovided.Step 3Remove each shim pack from step 2 above.Apply Loctite to the mounting screw.Step 4Attach each front stop by installing the mountingscrew through the front stop, the shim pack, andthen into the front stop mount.
