<strong>Disclosure</strong> <strong>Document</strong><strong>Math</strong> 7 <strong>2010</strong>-<strong>2011</strong><strong>Terry</strong> <strong>Stivers</strong><strong>Math</strong> 7 DescriptionThis class is for students whose IEP goals require special attention in math. Education is moreindividualized, working with student strengths and around their weaknesses.Course Goals and ObjectivesMy goal is to teach the 7th grade <strong>Math</strong> CORE curriculum in a manner which will be understood and usedby all my students. Daily content and learning objectives will be selected directly from the state core. Youcan locate the state 8th grade language arts core objectives at:http://www.uen.org/core/core.do?courseNum=5070Course MaterialsWe will use teacher created curriculum materials. Students will need two spiral bound notebooks (70 or100 page, regular or college rule); one to use as a class journal and another to use as a homework journal.Students should bring paper and a pencil or pen to class everyday.Format and ProceduresI will work hard to help develop a positive attitude towards math and hope to instill confidence and asense of achievement in the student.Work will be explained and modeled for the student. Students will have class time for drill and practice.Corrective procedures will be used to help students meet individualized goals on their IEP’s.Course Requirements (Assignments, Attendance, Tardies, Discipline, etc.)I will accept late work, but arrangements must be made on an individual basis and should involve thestudent and the parent.If you are not in class everyday you will have a hard time understanding the work and keeping up withassignments.The rules for this class are:Be in class and seated when the bell rings.Be prepared with books, paper, pencils and pens.Complete assignments on time.Talk only when you have permission to do so.Show respect to the teacher and others through your language and actions.Infractions will result in: 1. Warning, 2. Student contact, 3. Buddy Room and Parent contact, 4. LunchDetention, 5. Office Referral. Severe infractions will result in automatic office referral.Cheating will result in a 0 on the assignment, reduced citizenship grade and/or a letter home.Hall Passes: maximum of 2 passes allowed per quarter. You must have your planner in class to use a hallpass.


Grading ProceduresGrades will be based on the assignments that are to be completed in class or at home. All assignments areweighted equally.Grading scale is available on ESIS. Any student receiving less than 50% will fail.Parents and students may access their grades through their ESIS password which they will receive in themail during the first month of school. Grades will be updated weekly. I will periodically send studentshome with a progress report or print-out of their grade and missing assignments.Tentative Course ScheduleAreas of study planned for this year include:Developing fluency with rational numbers and proportional relationships.Learning algebra concepts that serve as a transition into formal Algebra and Geometry.Learning to think flexibly about relationships among fractions, decimals, and percents.Learning to recognize and generate equivalent expressions and solve single-variable equations andinequalities.Investigating and exploring mathematical ideas and developing multiple strategies for analyzing complexsituations.Analyzing situations verbally, numerically, graphically, and symbolically.Applying math skills and making meaningful connections to life experiences.Teacher Contact InformationThe best way to reach me is via e-mail.
