<strong>SXSW</strong> <strong>Interactive</strong> <strong>Announces</strong> <strong>2012</strong> <strong>Accelera<strong>to</strong>r</strong> <strong>Finalists</strong><strong>Startups</strong> <strong>to</strong> present innovations in news, web, social, entertainment, health, and musicrelatedtechnologiesJanuary 30, <strong>2012</strong>, Austin, TX –The <strong>SXSW</strong> <strong>Interactive</strong> Festival <strong>to</strong>day announced the finalists for thefourth annual <strong>SXSW</strong> <strong>Accelera<strong>to</strong>r</strong>, presented by Microsoft BizSpark, taking place March 12 – 14, <strong>2012</strong>. Asthe marquee event of the <strong>SXSW</strong> <strong>Interactive</strong> Festival’s Startup Village, <strong>SXSW</strong> <strong>Accelera<strong>to</strong>r</strong> will host techindustry notables <strong>to</strong> judge the 56 finalists who will present in front of a live audience. The event will kickoff on March 12, when 48 companies will compete for a spot as one of 18 finalists invited back <strong>to</strong> presen<strong>to</strong>n March 13. The Music <strong>Accelera<strong>to</strong>r</strong> follows on March 14th when eight music technology startupscompanies will pitch their products or services.Of the hundreds of applications received, this year’s 56 finalists were chosen across seven categories:News Related Technologies, Social Media and Social networking Technologies, Innovative WebTechnologies, Entertainment Technologies, Health Technologies, Mobile Technologies, and Music-Related Technologies. <strong>SXSW</strong> <strong>Accelera<strong>to</strong>r</strong> categories are also sponsored by the following: HTC for theMobile Technologies category, The John S. and James L. Knight Foundation for the News category,Turner Broadcasting for the Innovative Web and Entertainment categories and .net for the Social Mediaand Social Networking category."The applicant pool for <strong>SXSW</strong> <strong>Accelera<strong>to</strong>r</strong> is consistently high-quality and this year was no different,ensuring that the 56 finalists represent <strong>to</strong>day and <strong>to</strong>morrow's most exciting technologies," said <strong>SXSW</strong><strong>Accelera<strong>to</strong>r</strong> Event Producer, Chris Valentine.
