Like King, Lucas participated inlocal protests and demonstrations to achieve school integrationin his hometown of Lake Providence, La. In August 1983, he attendedthe 20th anniversary of the March on Washington. It wasduring that march that Lucas received the inspiration to learnand later recite King’s speeches. Lucas travels nationwide deliveringvarious renditions of King’s “I Have a Dream,” “I’ve Been tothe Mountaintop,” and excerpts from “The Drum Major Instinct”and “The Letter from Birmingham Jail,” in this dramatic one-manshow.Tuesday, August 31 | Nininger Gym, 9:30 a.m.Opening Convocation - President George E.
