Also new for 2007,<strong>the</strong> center began offering orthopaedicand sports medicine services, and nowfeatures a gym to accommodate <strong>the</strong>rapyand rehabilitation for orthopaedic conditions.Construction is also underway on a newUrgent Care Center for after-hours treatmentof minor pediatric injuries and illnesses.The Dan Marino Center offers families ofchildren with developmental disabilitiesand chronic medical problems <strong>the</strong> mostcomprehensive and integrated treatmentavailable in an outpatient setting. The after-hours UrgentCare Service provided care for 14,668patients, a 10 percent increase comparedwith <strong>the</strong> previous year, while <strong>the</strong> MRIservice, launched in 2006, provided nearly700 imaging studies. In o<strong>the</strong>r 2007 news,<strong>the</strong> center received a contemporary newlook both inside and out and completedconstruction on a beautiful <strong>the</strong>rapeuticwalkway on <strong>the</strong> grounds for use by patientsand <strong>the</strong> community.<strong>Miami</strong> Children’s Rehabilitation Services –<strong>Miami</strong> Lakes: <strong>Miami</strong> Children’s RehabilitationServices – <strong>Miami</strong> Lakes reported significantgrowth in 2007. The center, which providesaudiology, physical, occupational andspeech <strong>the</strong>rapies, hosted almost 12,000patient visits – nearly double <strong>the</strong> activity of<strong>the</strong> previous year.
