OPERATION GUIDEDouble Acting ActuatorsIPEX actuators have a standard angle of rotation of 90˚.Additional travel rotations of 120˚, 135˚, 150˚, and 180˚ areavailable. Sizes UT16DA and larger feature dual travel stopsthat provide for +- 10˚ stroke registration on both the openingand closing phases of the actuator stroke.Spring Return Actuator Terminology1. Air StrokeWhen air is supplied to the actuator, the pistonscompress the springs. The greater the springcompression, the less torque output the actuatorcan supply.POS.1CLOSEDDouble ActingPOS.2OPEN2. Spring StrokeWhen air is removed from the actuator, the stored energyin the springs forces the pistons inward. At fullcompression, the spring is at its maximum torqueoutput. This is the Spring Start. When springs areuncompressed, this is the Spring End.PNEUMATICACTUATORS3.
