GRAPEVINE Continued from previous page to bring new awareness and friends to the programs offered by the therapeutic riding organization. More than half of the attendees were new to the organization. John and Mary Kay Chlebina generously donated the use of their large barn that is centrally located in Bath. Bob Otto of American Food and Vending donated the delicious barbeque-style food selections, and Ken Stewart and House of LaRose donated the wine and provided the cash bar. The mechanical bull sponsored by Bob and Kathy Serpentini was the highlight of the evening. Professional bull rider from Lodi, Brandon Davis, talked a bit about rodeo life and demonstrated how to stay on the bull. Several of the party-goers gave the bull a whirl in a lively bull-riding contest, including this columnist, Amy Gray, Amy Fairhurst, Bob Otto, Colin Grimm, Dave Miller, Ken Stewart, Larry Yacovazzi, Tami Gosen B26 GPVN Ashley Yarborough is a golf stand-out at Hathaway Brown. Valvo, Kevin and Maria Forsyth – an absolute albeit dizzying blast! Other faces in the crowd included Chuck Gray, Joe Valvo, Carolyn Yacovazzi, Sheila Otto, Jen Bucheit, Barb Greene, Lori Stewart, Nancy and Dave Murray, Laurie Morgan Shrank and husband, Gary, Paula Howard and Toril Simon, who was kept busy snapping lots of photos of the bull contest riders. After dinner, the revelry continued with country line dancing lessons to the music of the Silver Creek Band. Professional rodeo clown, Craig Miller, kept the scene lively with his antics. Co-Founders Sue and Dave Miller and Chris Gustely plan to make the event an annual outing. While Owens- Fink was busy training with her relay team for the Akron Marathon, her three children have also been busy with one recently getting married and the other two getting engaged. First, John and Debbie’s oldest daughter, B22 GPVN Gary Pinter was honored for his dedicated service to Fairlawn Lutheran Church. Rachel Fink, married Paul Byerly of Salisbury, S.C., at the Church in the Valley on Everett Road. Laura Bettinger- Spelich played the piano and Jessica Ciraldo was the vocalist. The wedding party also included the sister of the bride, Sarah Fink, and former Revere classmates, Kristen Anderson (RHS 2001) and Martha Montgomery (RHS 2000). GRAPEVINE B32 GRAPEVINE The “5 around Fifty” relay team includes Kristi Pielstick, Kit Gibson, Laura Bettinger-Spelich, Deborah Owens-Fink and Peggy Wagner. Calif. After a romantic dinner in Chagrin Falls, he popped the big question. They are planning a Labor Day wedding in Boston. The Fink’s youngest child, Sarah, an accounting major at the University of South Carolina, after enjoying lunch with her grandmother, Ellie Owens of Bath, headed to The Bake Shop in Ghent to The Bath Country Journal, November 2012 pick up her 21st birthday cake. She grew up going to the Bake Shop every Friday after school and had taken her college boyfriend, Billy Judge, there when they were home visiting her parents. Owner, Nancy Fay brought out the cake, but it was not inscribed with the usual “Happy Birthday”; instead, it read: “Will you B24 GPVN Laura, Craig, Joanne, with grandson A.J., Heather and Justin made up Team Johnston Five in the Akron Marathon. marry me?” Fink thought Billy was in South Carolina; however, he came walking through the back door of the Bake Shop in dress clothes and a bowtie, got down on one knee, ring box in hand and proposed.
