Sharon Troike hosted an evening called
“Whine on the Patio” – “h” optional –a
celebration for “empty nest” moms. The
criteria for attending this gathering of
food, wine and laughter was: you have sent
your first child off to college, you have sent
your last child off to college, you attended
the Empty Nest book club last fall or you
need a night out with friends. Those in
attendance included this columnist, Dana
Singer, Kim Hemminger, JoAnne Bondi,
Lori D’Avello, Joy Marchetti, Michelle
Suglio and Renee Zumpano. Troike’s
husband, John, was a good sport, taking
photos and starting the outdoor fireplace
– of course, he was rewarded with a large
selection of delicious food.
We would like to offer condolences
to two local families. Moe (Jaime) and
Masoud Lami lost their mother, Boni
Lami, recently after her short battle with
cancer. She passed peacefully surrounded

realtor and had many outside interests
and hobbies, including salsa dancing, gardening,
cooking and spending time with
family and friends. Her husband and best
friend, Farhad, preceded her in death.
Also, our heartfelt sympathy goes to
the family and friends of Camille Kline,
Kline is survived by her son, Aiden,
ex-husband, Michael Kline, parents
Susan and Jim Kilcoyne, sister, Caroline
(Mark) Gronowski, brother, Jamie
(Heather) Kilcoyne and seven nephews
and nieces, Gunnar, Gavin and Gracie
Gronowski and Katy, Max, Cooper and
Lily Kilcoyne.
Randal A. Lowry and Associates is announced
that Randal A. Lowry of Bath
has been named the “Best Lawyers 2013
Akron Family Law” Lawyer of the Year.
Katrina Weimer of Akron is in the
running for West Virginia University’s Ms.
Mountaineer, which recognizes exemplary
academic achievement and extracurricular
involvement. She is a forensic and investigative
science major, 2011 president and
2012 senior advisor of the WVU women’s
club volleyball team, a judicial board member
of the National Society of Collegiate
Scholars, the community service co-chair
of Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society,
a 2011 and 2012 WVU Eberly College
Scholar and a member of the Mortar Board
National College Senior Honor Society.
She graduated from Revere High School in
2009. WVU women’s club volleyball team
sponsored Katrina’s nomination. Andrew
and Alison Weimer will escort her.
The first class of Revere High School celebrated
its 60th anniversary. The Class of
1952 met at the Holiday Inn at Montrose
for dinner, an evening of memories, fun
and laughter. Twelve of the original class
of 42 plus spouses, family and friends attended.
Buzzy Davis, a longtime friend
and employee of the Revere school system,
joined the classmates. Many of the group
met for brunch the next morning for more
visiting before heading home. The class
hopes to meet again in five years.
Congratulations to Rebecca Dymond,
who made the dean’s list at Ursuline College
summer 2012 semester. She is pursuing
a BSN in the second degree accelerated
program. Dymond has an extensive background
in exercise physiology and exercise
science including a BS degree in exercise
science from Ohio University and a MA
degree in exercise physiology from Kent
State, plus an LPN from Akron School
of Practical Nursing. Her current options
are either pursuing cardiac rehabilitation
or continuing on to become a Certified
Registered Nurse Anesthetist. Keep up
the good work!
Brooks and Abby Yarbrough’s daughter,
Ashley Yarbrough, who is a senior
this year at Hathaway Brown, has not only
captained her golf team but has also once
again lead them to states. Additionally,
she has placed in six invitationals with
Hathaway Brown. Ashley placed first in
one and was the medalist shooting a 76;
par was 74. She finished in the top five
in each of these tournaments.
