Orville and Wilbur Wright had transportation in their blood.They owned a bicycle shop in Dayton, Ohio, but they loved flying, be it kites, gliders,or even just watching birds.They flew many homemade gliders and eventually decided to try adding an engine.Their first powered flight ended in a crash landing after only three seconds in the air.Modifications were made, and they tried again. Orville Wright flew for twelveseconds, making this flight the first successful powered flight in history. Since thatday in 1903, many others have worked very hard to make advancements in poweredair travel, resulting in modern jets and space shuttles.Back to top of pageSEA PLANESPlanes can land anywhere, even in water.
