A Touch of Class • Winter 2008News NotesJohn Davis '71 wrote “I was glad to see the High<strong>School</strong> honor and retire George Faerber’s '67 jerseyin January ‘08. He was quite an athlete. I was only afreshmen when he broke the school scoring recordand got an opportunity to see that game. It was neatseeing (Coaches) Don Bee '61 and Lou Lorch at therecognition ceremony. Down the road the schoolshould consider honoring the 1970 basketball team,which in my opinion was one of the most talentedgroup of guys to play basketball. (particularly GaryLink '70 and Steve Blind '70 who I went to schoolwith at MU. If you never played the game ofbasketball you don’t know how talented those guyswere. I think I went to every basketball game myjunior year. How time flies.!!!!!!” John recentlyreceived his Lifetime Certification from the Instituteof Supply Chain Management.Megan Van Berkel '05, was one of 201 students whotook the first step into the pharmacy profession at theWhite Coat Ceremony of St. Louis College ofPharmacy.Nathan Schultz '94, is the winner of the LHSAlumni Raffle. Abigail is the daughter of Bruce and Sharon(Steffen '72) Hagy. Abigail works at Iowa WesternCommunity College in Council Bluffs, Iowa as theFreshmen Experience Coordinator. The couple livesin Omaha, Nebraska.Natalie Ernst and Andrew Mertens, a teacher at LHS,are engaged to be married in April 2008Darin and Shawn (Mullen '03) Wallace weremarried Dec. 1, 2007. Shawn has a bachelor’s degreein psychology from Missouri State Univ. She isworking on her master’s degree in counseling atMissouri State. Darin has a bachelor’s degree inaccounting from Missouri State and is employed byKY3, a TV news station.In MemoriamJay Ring '72, a longtime principal at Clayton-basedMoneta Groups died Dec. 24, 2007, after a two year battlewith multiple myeloma. He was 54. He is survived by hiswife and daughter.John Arnold '74, passed away Nov. 2, 2007. John ownedand operated Arnold Graphics for many years. He issurvived by a sister, Laura Ann '71, and a daughter.Ellen Larose '84 died in November 2007.7Clyde William “Bill” Schwab, an Industrial Arts teacherat Sperreng Middle <strong>School</strong> until his retirement in 1993,died in December, 2007. His wife asked that donations bemade to Sperreng so that a tree could be planted in hismemory.Lee “L.A.” Goodwin '59 died April 17, 2005 in Arkansas.Ruth Nottelmann '83 passed away November 12, 2007.She was an early education teacher with the City of St.Louis Public <strong>School</strong>s
