WERNER MÜLLERChairman of the Supervisory Boardof Deutsche Bahn AGREPORT OF THE SUPERVISORY BOARDIn the year under review, the Supervisory Board exercised great care in carrying out allduties which it is required to perform in accordance with the law, articles of association, andrules of procedure. It extensively advised and monitored the Management Board in themanagement of the company and also managing operations.The Management Board informedthe Supervisory Board regularly, promptly and extensively with regard to corporate planningand the economic, strategic and financial development of Deutsche Bahn AG (DB AG)and its subsidiaries. All major transactions were discussed in the plenary body and therelevant committees on the basis of the reports of the Management Board. Any variancesrelating to the overall development of business were explained in detail by the ManagementBoard and reviewed by the Supervisory Board. The chairman of the SupervisoryBoard constantly maintained close contact with the chairman of the Management Board,and was regularly informed by the chairman of the Management Board of the current developmentof business of DB AG, the entrepreneurial decisions which were about to betaken as well as risk management. The Supervisory Board was involved in all decisionswhich were of crucial importance for DB AG. One member of the Supervisory Board wasonly able to attend less than half the Supervisory Board meetings as a result of ill health.
