mTrack - Shared AVL & Communication Platform
Location and status information are the basis of dispatching, command and control
solutions. Accurate, fast and proper allocation of resources is a challenging task.
Novo’s automated vehicle location (AVL) and messaging solution, mTrack, helps the
dispatcher and field commander to maintain tight control over the fleet and other
resources. Optional telemetry, routing and point of interest functions further expand
the versatility of the solution.
Novo's mTrack can track thousands of vehicles in the same environment. Its versatility
means it can support many different positioning protocols simultaneously, such as
NMEA and TAIP, as well as different communications networks, such as TETRA IP, SDS,
SMS, GPRS and Inmarsat and even different user interfaces - Client/Server, Web or
mobile.
One of the main characteristics of Novo’s mTrack is the possibility of shared use of the
system. A field commander can usually see only the position of his own vehicles and
the system can be used in the same way as any small scale AVL system. However, if
needed, the field commander or another dispatcher can use the same system to get an
overview of the positions of vehicles from many separate organisations operating in
the same area.
The mTrack system can be decentralised or centralised depending on the required
functionality, load and QoS requirements. Components that can be decentralised are:

• Database for communications and location/paging information
• Database for digital maps
