Since Ivan Ruiz has written an article on theLeatherique tech session to be held on February21 st , I will concentrate on providing a preview ofcoming events.March has us scheduled to be in the SaintPatrick’s Day parade in Atlanta. Our club hasmade it a tradition for over twenty years toparticipate in this very festive event. This yearthe date is Saturday, March 14 th . <strong>The</strong> AmeliaIsland Concours D’Elegance is also being heldon March 14 th and 15 th . Several members areplanning to attend this prestigious car show. Asa matter of fact, our very own Ivan Ruiz has beenaccepted to show a Maserati at Amelia. AlanTalbott is working on getting a tour for us of thePirelli tire factory in Rome, GA on either March28th or April 4 th .On April 25 th , we have a visit to the King Tutexhibit at the civic center planned, followed bylunch at O’Terrill’s restaurant.<strong>The</strong> first weekend in May brings a visit toRoad Atlanta and <strong>The</strong> Mitty vintage sports carraces. This year, I have been told, Jaguar is thefeatured marquee. XKs Unlimited has invited allJaguar owners to join them in the Jaguar Corral.May 16th brings the fabulous British <strong>Car</strong> Day toBerry College in Rome, GA.On June 7 th , we are planning to have brunchat Le Vigne Ristorante at Monteluce inDahlonega. On June 20 th , we are being invitedby the North Georgia Club to their annual picnicand car show in Roswell.We’re hoping to have an overnight tripsometime in July. We are also considering anevening of laughs at a comedy club in SandySprings or Roswell. Dates for these events arestill to be determined.August will bring a pool/lake party at LakeLanier, hosted by Dick and Johnnie Preston.September 4th will find us back at theFernbank Museum for Martinis and IMAX. Onthe 19 th of September, we are heading north toDawsonville and the Kangaroo ConservationCenter followed by a get together at Ivan MyrnaRuiz’s home.on Sunday, October 4th at Nalley Jaguar inRoswell. Jim and Marsha Foley have kindlyvolunteered to host the pre-concours party on the3 rd at their home in East Cobb. <strong>The</strong> weekend ofthe 16 th -18 th has some of us heading off to South<strong>Car</strong>olina to attend the Eurofestival inSpartanburg /Greenville. As if that isn’t enoughfor one month, we are considering having aHalloween costume party on October 30 th or 31 st .Are we party animals or what???November has a special surprise…it isn’tcompletely planned, so I cannot share theinformation yet.Mark your calendars for Sunday, December6 th for our annual Christmas party at RoswellCountry Club.We may add a few more activities as the yearprogresses. I do think we have a good plan, andhope to see many of you at many of these events.Watch for more details on the events in futurenewsletters. 2009 looks to be a good year for<strong>AJS</strong>!If you have any comments or ideas, pleasecontact one of your activities committeemembers: Judy Scarborough, Myrna Ruiz orKim Daly.February Dinner Meeting<strong>AJS</strong> member Skip Smith will be our featuredspeaker at our monthly meeting in February.Skip will give his insight into the Barrett/Jacksonauction held recently as well as the otherauctions that run concurrently with the Barrett inJanuary each year. <strong>The</strong> Barrett/Jackson auction,in particular, is used as a barometer for old carprices in the coming year. Skip’s extensiveexperience as a restorer, enthusiast and lover ofJag’s will bring us insights into a world most ofus know little about.Please plan to attend the meeting to enjoy thetalk.October promises to be another busy monthwith our annual Concours D’Elegance to be held
