PAGE 6 Christian Formation News Nursery help arrives and Advent draws near New Nursery Workers We have finally hired our nursery workers to oversee the care of the youngest members of our parish on Sunday mornings. Many of you know Carol Brod who is a member of our parish and the daughter of Bob and Mary Brod. She is a junior at Brookfield Central and has been an active member of our youth program for the past several years. She will be sharing the position with Alyssa Pugh who is a native of Waukesha and a freshman at the University of Wisconsin here in Waukesha. Alyssa has a background in early childhood care and she is planning to major in this area. We are excited to have both of these wonderful ladies as part of our staff . They have already started their duties the beginning of October. They will be alternating Sundays and will staff the nursery from 8:45 to approximately 11:45 AM each Sunday. R.O.C.K. News By the time you receive this edition of the Messenger, R.O.C.K. will be in the midst of its Baptismal cycle. The children of R.O.C.K. will be looking at the sacrament of baptism from a personal perspective as they explore some of the symbols commonly associated with baptism and share their personal stories of baptism. Based on the baptismal service found in the book of Common Prayer, children will also dramatize the baptismal ritual and create unique watercolor pictures using Kool-Aid. (You will have to ask the children how they did it!) The cycle which is entitled “Holy Baptism: Marked as Christ’s Own” will surely be an opportunity to help our children to experience and understand more fully this sacrament which most of them do not remember. It our hope that through these learning experiences, the children will gain a better understanding of how their baptism welcomes them into the family of God. The cycle began on October 23rd and concludes on November 13th. that is the foundation of our faith. Our Advent cycle for R.O. C.K. which begins Sunday, November 20 th will center on the Nativity story found in the Gospel of Luke. Entitled, “Creating a Crèche”, children will explore the birth story of our Savior by looking at the history of crèches. Most families and churches have a crèche or manger scene which is displayed throughout the Advent and Christmas season. Through learning about the history and characters that are a part of the crèche, we hope the children grow in their understanding of the individuals who were a part of this story Art of the Covenant Cornerstone Café Cinema on the Mount Family Advent Workshop On Sunday, November 27 th during the Christian Formation hour (9 to 10 am) in the Parish Hall, everyone is invited to attend our annual Advent wreathmaking workshop. This has been a wonderful activity for families and individuals of our parish to gather on the first Sunday of Advent to celebrate the start of the season. All the supplies will be available from the wire rings, evergreen boughs, to candles, ribbon, and a devotional booklet. The cost will be $12.00 for those who need a wreath form and $6.00 for (Continued on page 7) The Messenger

This helps to ensure that there will be plenty of supplies for everyone who wants to attend.
