NEW MEXICO PUBLIC REGULATION COMMISSIONKAREN MONTOYA | PATRICK LYONS | VALERIE ESPINOZA | THERESA BECENTI-AGUILAR | BEN HALLCHIEF OF STAFF JOHNNY MONTOYAPRESS CONTACT » ARTHUR BISHOP » 505-827-4446 » ARTHUR.BISHOP@STATE.NM.USFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASEJuly 10, 2013NEWS RELEASE<strong>PRC</strong> <strong>Continues</strong> <strong>Discussions</strong> <strong>On</strong> <strong>Rural</strong> <strong>Telecom</strong> <strong>Service</strong> <strong>Funds</strong>SANTA FE, N.M. — The Public Regulation Commission (<strong>PRC</strong> or Commission) is continuing to examinerules concerning the implementation of New Mexico’s <strong>Rural</strong> Universal <strong>Service</strong> Fund (RUSF) fortelecommunications carriers.Building on a RUSF workshop earlier this year, additional meetings will be held Aug. 12 and 26, andSept. 9.Participants will include commissioners, members of the telecommunications industry, consumeradvocates and <strong>PRC</strong> staff.Through the workshops, the <strong>PRC</strong> hopes to obtain recommendations for revision to its rule on establishingRUSF benchmark rates and the formula for annual determination of the fund. Commissioners will alsolook at how to implement new regulatory guidelines for rural carriers outlined in House Bill 58, passed inthe 2013 state legislative session.Topics of discussion for each workshop are as follows:
